Based on an analyisis of 3000+ games, in 1v1 the best players have roughly a 4:1 chance of winning against new Grandmasters, and new Grandmasters have roughly a 4:1 chance to win against novices.
It’s definitely not 50/50 chance of each player winning, but the chance of the weaker player winning is high enough that you see it happen a lot in tournaments.
The best tournaments work using matches of multiple games to allow some of the luck to balance out.
(These concepts apply similarly to FFA, but it’s just harder to put a number on it)

As a worst player to of praying to rngseus, after a blitz attack (balanced blitz) while playing pass and play with friends with literally 98% chance of winning and still lost lol
