just to add to the conversation slighty different between states and regions than with countries (England, Ireland,Scotland & Wales are seperate countries entirely, Northern Ireland is also a seperate country (although it is also described by official sources as a province or a region) ) not really same thing being compared ,.. like i say im just adding to converstion, Personaly im fine with a british flag as an Englishman.

It's partly because internationally there is not any sort of accepted "countries as part of countries" - UK considers itself a collective of countries, but it is a country itself - since UK is primarily how it's seen in the international community, all of the subdivisions are not considered countries

yeah its the constant battle of the Welshman getting classed into the UK, would absolutely love to be able to represent the Welsh flag, and im sure others in the other countries of the UK would too

I guess the real question is this, who would be harmed by letting Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Quebec having their own flags? Many people living in those areas are strongly independent…
