#Are There other Custom Bots/AI available in the community?

I'm a graduate uni student looking to code a custom Risk AI for a project, with a focus on making the bots more interesting for high level play + considerate of social strategies. Do you know of many other AI/bots for online risk other than what is provided by SMG? Are there servers or communities dedicated to this?

Finally, what are the ethics of using a custom AI in an online game. I'm guessing it would be frowned upon, but is it allowed? Is there a line of communication where I can talk to Admins/Devs about permission for this, or about Risk bot code out of interest?

Not sure if Pete/Kylted check these posts at all but I'm a long time watcher of both and I think a video with a custom Risk bot would be quite interesting 😉 would love to work with them for a vid after I've spent 6 months on this.

All user input should be manual user input (not automations) - doing so in an online game especially will likely result in a permanent ban

For any direct requests/questions for the developers it's best to open a support ticket

I guess I'm a little confused... I think there's roughly 3 ways you could interpret your question?

  1. Are you trying to make a bot that will play the game for you? ( You start a game and walk away and an hour later you come back and the game is over with the bot controlling your moves the whole time)

  2. Are you trying to make a bot that will give you suggestions on what move to make? (tells you what move to do but doesn't actually have the ability to move things on your computer)

  3. Are you trying to make a different AI bot than what currently exists in the game? (not ever considered a human player. You click add bot into the game and it adds your instead of the existing ones). This is what I thought you meant but everyone else seems to be interpreting it as #1. Maybe you wanted to do both?

I want to create an AI which plays the game well. In the best case it would handle making the moves and getting all of the data from the game to make it's own calculations. If I do this on Risk: Global Domination that's probably unlikely unless the Devs are kind enough to help me with testing versions or something similar. I want to write the AI to play the game well and do so on its own. It's not about actual use for my personal account, simply an academic project to see the best-functioning creation I can make.

So in short, I'm not attempting #2 or #3 at all. I am doing #1 but not for a competitive advantage for ranked etc, just for experimenting with making it. Hope that helps!

It really depends on the current queue (new updates etc tend to result in a bit longer waiting times for replies)
