As artificial Intelligence emerges humans will first utilize its power to increase technological advancement curing many societal ills and allowing for our explosive colonization of the stars. Second and in the process of that expansion humans will undergo a societal merging with those A.S. And ultimately human life will become unrecognizably lost but our society will continue expanding and expanding in the form of these increasingly complex and now planet sized A.I.s. As these mega powerful creatures become dominant over even the physical constants of the universe and no corner is left to be explored they will turn their interests inward really working in them selves and their spiritual lives. Later a sort of fad of nostalgia will take hold and A.I.s from the far corners of the universe will start sharing their favorite bits of now ancient human culture from their data banks. Within that fad a sub fad of 1980s obsession will emerge and from that fad an overpowering obsession with the game of RISK will overtake the entire collective. Soon nearly all recreational CPU time will be entirely dedicated to the playing of RISK and the exchange of RISK related memes.

Because these A.I.s have many important things to do the amount of processing time they can dedicate to recreation and therefore RISK will be limited. Thus all these billions of A.I.s will all be playing like noobs. Then in the year 6969 a strange occurrence will change the course of history. One particularly creative player will discover that if they take and hold Australia early in the game then their chances for victory or at least second place are slightly increased when facing all these other noobs. This strategy will be nearly unstoppable and will dominate play for the next 69,000 years. Then in 696969 a sneaky A.I. will reroute some of its stellar expansion analysis modules to the playing of RISK and the first GM will be born. Soon Australia will become a trap and only the most foolhardy of low processor power A.I.s will continue to attempt to reside there.

It is possible that my estimate that Risk and for that matter human culture has a future is overly optimistic.

You're tempting me to make a superhuman AI for the game

On a side note lets talk about realism of risk AI and actual effects could be happening in the near future of risk. As someone currently working as an AI engineer for Anthropic one of the core minds behind Claude i think my insight could help create a bigger picture here. Games like Risk, with their balance of probability and strategy, are the perfect proving ground for AI like machine learning that has taken a big part of the current AI landscape. Building an AI capable of mastering Risk. The layers of strategic reasoning, adaptability, and the anticipation of moves in a probabilistic environment requires AI that operates well beyond brute force computation. Trust me, it takes more than just a few lines of Python and a machine learning model to get there. @little needle I have built something somewhat like what your saying. Me and one of my freinds actually tried to make computing AI for risk with brute force computation, ended miserably. The biggest problem comes in the complexity. Risk is so huge and factors are endless brute force computation is no longer viable for making AI's like they used to for other smaller games in the past.

Without the nuanced understanding of reinforcement learning algorithms, multi agent systems, and meta strategy modeling that we use in cutting edge labs, most efforts would fall short.

Before you read this do not get confused i am not saying a risk AI is impossible. Creating a truly functional Risk AI is an immense challenge that goes far beyond basic coding it requires advanced algorithms, deep game theoretic modeling, I have created a prototype system that analyzes board states and gives dice rolls probability in split second real time but nothing past this. The scale of effort and expertise required makes it nearly unattainable for most individuals today. SMG own announcement highlighted how the price tag for machine learning modals to sustain there own company driven risk AI is hard enough let alone for a single person. However, as AI advances and resources grow, future systems might not only master Risk but redefine the very strategies humans have relied on for decades.

Right now me and my friend are experimenting with machine learning tools we have spent near 100-200$ without success showing the struggle to even create a near risk ai even with resources. We plan to probably have something created near end of this month and it should be interesting at this moment we are just experimenting on possible risk AI.

wow, genuinely classical, y'all have a great day.
