#Reasons to Buy Premium

I, for one, don't usually spend money on games. Never have been a big fan, seems like a P2W scenario in most games. Risk is different, and so I bought premium, not regretting a single thing. Here's why:

  1. Unlimited Gameplay (Most obvious)
  2. Support RISK and help the game to grow
  3. Play without stress (no worrying about wasting tokens)
  4. Dominate with style 😎 (cosmetics)
  5. Less restraint
  6. Priority (developers want to help YOU the most)
  7. One time purchase
  8. Does not give you an unfair advantage, still legitimate wins
  9. Only 12$ (at least for me)
  10. Extra game settings anytime (fog, blizzard, portals [who like portals tho])
  11. NOT P2W

Tell me if you have any additional reasons or anything against the reasons mentioned. Completely open.

#

Of course, not everyone has access to the money for this

#

just to encourage people to help support risk

Is it a subscription or a one time thing?

The "one time" vs "subscription" question is by far one of the most common questions about premium - I don't really play many other games but presumably lots have subscription-based only?

karmic trout
#

wish everyone knew that, biggest reason why i bought premium

The closest I've seen to that I guess would be halo infinite & clash of clans both having battle passes, though the latter leaning more to p2w.

The downside with that route is you don't really have the same sense of ownership of your content, permanence certainly holds it's own appeal 😄

I can’t speak to halo infinite but Clash of Clans is more of a pay to advance game and was even before their gold pass. The pass was just a way of making players feel like they were still earning it rather than just buying it outright (which has always felt a little like cheating for most players and even a waste of money since they just always add new levels. Owning a level 90 Archer Queen just isn’t worth anything when there will be a level 120 so why buy the level 90). I think the examples closer to Risk are Fortnite and Rocket League. The gameplay is the same for all players regardless of whether you buy it or not, but players with the “premium pass” get access to additional cosmetics/animations/etc.

I have previously suggested having a monthly pass in Risk associated with a better battle points system that would be similar to that of Fortnite or Rocket League

I have said many times that premium is the way to go. Step into a toy store and buy a board game… it’s going to be $15-$20 or more. The $12 (for me) to remove ads and allow for unlimited games of risk, was an easy yes.

i like to play with fog, so premium helps me start a fog-game if nobody else does, so it helps

i bought premium when i had a special offer after playing 100 days i think, i had 74% off on gem cost

Does buying premium allow you to type messages rather than selecting from presets like "start game" "lets go" "good luck" "thanks" etc?

soft badger
#

Typing messages is not a thing in the risk app. The reason is that it would be hell to moderate.

fervent herald

Golden name in lobbies is the only down side of premium that I can think of. Gives a slight disadvantage in some public games.
Great deal overall. I hope SMG keeps the purchase premium option open for new players for the long term and if they add a subscription model (if at all) it is for new features such as a map editor or a testing ground where new modes are available before general release, etc.

It'll still mean getting reports from players, complaints on social media about extreme / abusive / scamming etc - it's a lose/lose for an unmoderated chat because it negatively affects the game's reputation, making it have lower ratings, less likely to be installed as a result, and reduced player base overall for us

#

If there was ever going to be a chat, it'd need:

  • very strict & upfront rules
  • very clear messaging that anything abusive may result in your account being banned
  • probably needs a minimum MP games played (e.g. 100) to actually access it
  • live moderation (this would effectively mean 1 human per 10-20 active games)
  • a single violation would immediately remove you from the game & suspend you (likely a 30d or longer ban from chat)
  • any severe violations (racism, SA, etc) being a lifetime ban from app

We removed social media avatars due to a tiny % of players abusing the feature to bring nazi content, nudity, and much worse via avatars (and note this would be <1%, like 0.001%) - but active moderation for that was deemed not feasible, chat is much harder to moderate as it's not 1/account, but thousands or millions of messages/account
There's also language barriers (translations won't be concrete, and a term inappropriate in one language may have another meaning in another language) - so it's a lot more nuanced than just "ban some words"
Likelihood of a chat is extremely low for a lot of reasons, those were the main ones in my personal opinion

fervent herald
#

Family friendly fun for all ages and open online chat do not go together. One parent has one kid see inappropriate content and that is associated with RISK in the press and Hasbro is not gonna be happy at all with SMG. Not worth the riskna_this_is_fine

Ok, How about having a new additional game e.g. called Adult Risk. Which does have unmoderated chat and is only for adults.

I paid because like like op it wasn't paid to win. If it was p2w, it never end, its always more more. I dont play those games.

Now you just need to pay $5 a week to keep your premium account well cleaned and running the way you like it. “That’s a nice premium account you got there. It’d be a shame if something happened to it.”

#

Oh no SMG has just told me they are cracking down on my protection racket! 😢 I guess you just have to pay once and then you have it for life, that’s a good deal! …for you… not for me… How am I gonna afford fancy sandwiches now? Well that isn’t your problem. You are too busy buying a life time membership in the play risk as many times a day as you feel like club.

This is not your mother’s deal on premium!

Guys remember each and every one of the maps is also a one time purchase, so are the cosmetics. Also not P2W.

When purchasing maps for PC, I highly recommend purchasing them through Steam. The major benefit is that you will have access to the maps for all risk accounts attached to that steam account.

There are great deals that pop up frequently and you can purchase all of them at a significant discount (still pricey). However, when new maps come out, you can continue to purchase all of the maps and only pay for the new ones with the discount applied. If you plan on getting all the maps anyway, this will save a lot of money.

Don't give these shady people your money. You'll just be banned once you buy everything. You'll play your usual game only to log in with a ban out of no where, without an actual reason given.... Just vague words that tell you nothing. I think they intentionally leave it vague to hide their evil scheme behind the veil of obscurity. Their goal, I think, is to ban accounts who buy everything so they make a new account and buy it all again. Fook em.

Ignore the above! Do give “these shady people” your money. They have been in the sun too long and deserve a break.

The every thread challenge is an immediate fail if you break any server rules or are repetitive or off topic. The only two post I saw in threads I follow seemed varied in meaning (only similar in tone) but once I looked in other threads (after I saw Luci’s message) I found 5-6 that were very repetitive, after that I got bored.

Yes but Premium is a good deal for people who enjoy the game and essential for anyone playing multiple games every day. (It is admittedly not a good idea to buy premium or spend any other money on the game if you hate risk and intend to never play it again or subscribe to a conspiracy theory about SMG banning accounts to make more money 🤔. I don’t think that’s most users checking this thread.)

Premium is a great deal if you intend to play more than an occasional game.

If you got a perma ban I can assure you it's not for "no reason".
If you got a temporary suspension it's most likely from the automated system that compiles info from various sources and determined your behavior violated 1 or more rules. Temporary suspensions tend to last 24-48 hours.
I would encourage you to open an smg freshdesk ticket to get better clarification on your account status vs. spamming threads with money grabbing conspiracies.
Good luck.

When you believe you've been scammed, what do you do? I came here to share it in front of everyone, including the company I think is potentially scamming others. Do I believe filling out a help desk ticket run by the potential scammers will bare any fruit? Of course not! But, I'll give them one last chance and fill it out. So, I came here and threw sunlight all over it. I was immediately told by an SMG mod, using what I believed were some pretty lame cookie cutter excuses, to basically shut up or I risk being banned here, too. Then some clown trolls chimed in. A few others tried to help (thanks).

I've received 2 or 3 temporary bans with an incredibly vague explanation that just says I've violated their policy. It doesn't articulate what specific thing I've done. And when I review their policy, only #5 could be applied... And only because it's so broad and arbitrary and vague that it leaves the door open to ban anyone at any time for any reason. Only shady scum and stupid people do things like this.

Given that only my main account was banned (where I've bought nearly everything in game to support SMG) but my brother's account (aka my alt) is never banned (it has almost nothing purchased), and I play the exact same way on both accounts, what am I left to deduce?

I started to think they kept banning only the account with almost everything unlocked in hopes to manipulate me into creating a new account and buy everything again.

I wasn't banned permanently. I shouldn't have even recieved the temporary bans. I play fairly and haven't broken any of their rules, except for possibly #5 for the reasons I gave.

I still believe they include #5 as a backdoor money scheme as I layed out.

A SMG mod in this very discord admitted they falsely ban players. I hope this is their only fault. If they're using shady or probably illegal tactics to manipulate their players into spending more money, then I'll do everything I can to bankrupt them.

fervent herald

On the other hand. Premium is a great deal and if you buy it before November when gem prices go up you can lock the savings in for all time.

Gems can be saved up over about half a year of play to “buy” premium for free. For those with no funds at all.

burnt solstice
#

Look, I don't know or trust them. But what I see raises some red flags. And it's not difficult to place controlled opposition in your own discord to try to make me seem like a liar. I've done nothing but fairly play a game I love and financially support the company who made a great version of it. Then, I received 1 ban out of no where. And then another. Now I'm banned until mid december. The ban started a few weeks ago.

Put yourself in my shoes. I did nothing wrong. I then tried to figure out why I was even banned by visiting numerous websites and forums, and by reading old and current versions of the rules. I have to. Their reason for banning me said nothing. How could I stop doing what I didn't know I was even doing?

1 wrong ban is too much. The amount I've received is ridiculous, especially when I play the exact same way on both accounts and only the account with almost everything unlocked is banned.

Sure seems fishy to me, especially since I've done nothing wrong, and also when such an arbitrary and vague rule as #5 exists.

fervent herald
#

And yet buying Premium is a wonderful way to support the game we love.

If you buy premium, just keep in mind that there is nothing you can do not to get banned on this game. The ban will come if you are winning. So you have to consider any money spent as a loss. At any moment for any reason they can and will take your game from you. (This game is an online game, nobody plays offline expect at first perhaps) Just because you follow the fair play rules does not mean you will not get banned for violating them. And many will tell you, no matter how hard you try, the ban is coming. Nothing you can do about it.

blissful thicket
# burnt solstice When you believe you've been scammed, what do you do? I came here to share it in...

Bro, I AGREE WITH THIS 100%!!!!!!!!!!! They ban me over 10 times now for either stalling or no stated reason at all and I literally only wait out maybe 1 turn timer and hour because 60 seconds not long enough to make a drink or use the bathroom. Meanwhile people who wait out 60-90 turn timers at the end of the match are NEVER banned!!! WHAT IS THIS SCAM!!! I have always though as I have recieved every indication to believe that they are running a scam against people who spend money on the game in hopes they will start a new account. Players who play the game often and also spend money over and over again are how they pay their bills. They have NO RESPECT for us. The ban system is a toxic joke.

Not everyone interprets the fair play rules the same, and I have played thousands of matches by now. If I can get banned for my behavior then every player I have every played with should have been banned wayyyy before me.
I would even go as far to say that it is not possible for a normal person to follow such unfathomably strict standards. And not one player I have seen so far had a higher standard than me.
In fact in half the matches the other 5 players wait out a turn timer to get a card behind on the first or second trade. I dont even wait that timer out. So if there was a reward for the player that has waited out the least amount of turn timers, I would be the one recieving it, not anyone on here.
