A Note on Territory Names

I spent way too much time researching territory names. I used names from old maps, terms found in military fort diagrams. Yes, I made-up some names, but most of those have a backstory too. Importantly, I wanted to pay respect to the Aboriginal peoples upon whose land Canada and America was founded. Aboriginal peoples were promienent powers in the War of 1812, and their centuries of suffering deserves recognition. Accordingly, I added various Indigenious nation names and references (mostly in the Niagara Frontier Map). I also wanted pay respect to historical figures, including names of Aboriginal heros like Brant, Tecumseh and his English friend, Sir Brock, as well as heroine Secord, amongst others. Even the boat names on the York map are all real boat names.

I didn't put any rocks under the water in this map, but I did make extra graphics for Niagara Falls (of the Horseshoe Falls) and a rock-face showing the Niagara Escarpment cliff (as mentioned in my initial post about the inspiration for a War of 1812 map pack).

I had to use some artistic license to widen the Niagara and Grand rivers by a fair amount. It makes the map visually better and easier to click-on when playing, I think.

This is the largest of my War of 1812 maps.

Some other pictures I based my map on.

I never got around to doing a Zombie Pathing map. My thought was to make the Zombies always head 'downhill', meaning: down the Niagara Escarpment toward the Lake Ontario shores (bottom of the map).

I love the historical attention to detail on this. It makes it feel real
