Hey everyone, community manager here. Wanted to have some discussions going on so I'm curious, how long has everyone been playing RISK? And what got you into it 😄 I'll go first! I remember playing the board game back in 2020 but have been playing Global Domination since I started working here (September last year).

I have been playing Risk: Global Domination since 2020. I remember always seeing the board game in stores but never played it before. I saw it being promoted on the Google Play store. I decided to give it a go.

My first risk game (the board game) was about 20 years ago. But I found this version of the game early 2022 and quit it back then because I thought others were cheating (because of the lobby system and the severe speed handicap for new players). But came back to the game around July 2022 after watching a lot of Pete content.

I have been playing the board game for about 15 - 20 years. I always loved it so I went looking for an online version and found the mobile app like 5-6 years ago. I don't even think multiplayer was out yet. And when I could play multiplayer I couldn't figure out how to win because I didn't know what fog was or what balanced blitz was. Overall very frustrating so I just stopped playing. A couple years later I happened across Pete's youtube and that got me back into it. I ended up joining the community a little over a year ago when I was a GM so I could play in tournaments

Lets see if i can remember... i think it was 1999 when my mom wanted the family to play risk the board game together.... I was 6 and didn't understand it.

Fast forward to 2013 and during premobilization training, my squad would host regular RISK nights while unwinding from training...

I think i plaing RISK Global domination first in 2015 but cant really recall when i started 😄

1979 at school, we were encouraged to come up with homeroom activities and my friends and I started a games club and we played risk almost every time. We were forced to "not play risk every time" after several months of that, so we ended up just alternating between risk and diplomacy each time to comply with that edict. I can still picture my teacher's scowl, but they couldn't find a valid argument to stop us.

1069, but back then our castles defended with more than three dice. Later in 1835 I made some notes on the back of an old map about a game idea I had while traveling in France. In 1953 my notes were discovered and later The French filmmaker Albert Lamorisse designed a board game that seemed remarkably similar to what I described in my notes. La Conquête du Monde (The Conquest of the World) came out in 1957. Parker Brothers bought the rights and published it with a few small changes as Risk in 1959. I was busy with other adventures and didn’t get a chance to try the Parker brothers version until a couple decades later. I found it to be tame and totally lacking in head crushed with falling rock, arrow impalement, and slashed with sword deaths unlike the original game.

I started playing the board game around 7 years ago when my dad came home with the 50th anniversary version, 3-4 years later I found and bought the classic and the Star wars original trilogy version. I didn't start playing the video game version until around this time last year.

probably off and on 10 years, was browsing youtube and saw pete last week and decided to play Global domination today. Correction: First achievement says Oct 14, 2016

board game 10-12 years ago in a club once a week after school. Downloaded the Global Domination on phone when the game got out. Sadly there were no players to find online lobbies back then so I stopped after couple bot games. recently I Got that itching to play risk so I found my way back to the game after many years. I was really surprised of how big the community had became comparing to my experience before.

I first played the board game in middle school like, twice as part of an extra curricular requirement.

Didn't think of it for years until a roommate in college. Then we would vs each other. Put it down a few years. And now here I am 😂

my father introduced this game to me 3 years ago. couldnt understand stuff but now i managed to hit master (20-22k) within a year of playing. also met this amazing community

I originally started playing around 2018, but quickly got bored and forgot my acc info, RIP.

I legit started playing in March of 2020 when Corona hit it's Prime and the game went to Steam. If it wasn't for Steam release, I'd never be here, so yea, be thankful you suckers laughbounce

Since 2018 but I was so bad and a Novice I couldn’t even get Beginner so I stopped, I started playing again a few months ago

There used to be a very good Facebook version of risk and was playing that in 2010.

I've noticed a lot of players here have been playing for years, and comparatively I've been playing for a much shorter time.

I first properly started playing Risk via the Kill Pete Open about 7 months ago and since then have been hooked, mostly in the tournament scene. Very glad to have came across this wonderful community!

I don't know what feature or features allowed by this game to allow 1 defending unit to hold off 8 attacking units, but it is ridiculous!!!!!
