I'm not sure why this isn't already the case, but I like to look at who I played with and what their rank was to analyze whether my estimation of them was correct. This doesn't happen when a player surrenders.
Why is this important? Let's say that I have an annoying player who likes to rub it in that he won by just accumulating troops on the last turn even when the game is no longer a competition, or for some reason you have to leave: surrendering at the moment doesn't show you who you played with.
