I think when you click on an any opponent (including bots) you should see the amount of troops that opponent has killed/lost, just like you can view your own stats (of those) during the game.

Yeah fog is a valid critique for this, I don't see it being an issue with non fog games - if it was to be displayed it should have additional info too though? One button/section to view this would ideally have more info (e.g. 'predicted troop gain' based on current territories/continents/capitals, total troops position etc.)
