I would love if there was a way to tag or label people who randomly suicide, and see that somehow in the lobby. Example: I was just in a game where I was single stacking in North America (Western United States). On turn 3, someone decides to suicide my stack, ending my game (and theirs). I was dead before my turn 4. Of course, as a GM or Master, I lose ~1000 rank points to that. I need to win multiple ranked games to make up that loss. It's demotivating.

Anyone who votes against this is outing themselves as a suicide artist and thusly the scourge of the game. Really, think about how quickly crap would stop if players had some way to tag malicious accounts as untrustworthy such that other players can see it.

I downvote because it would be used by sore losers against all of their opponents, now everyone is stuck with a pointless tag that doesn't tell you anything?

In RISK terms that would be equivalent to receiving a tag for attacking an ally, was it an ally that attacked you? Otherwise it'd just be an opponent (and really up to them how they use their troops)

Even if it is an ally, there may be tactical reasons for moving troops onto an ally territory - we'd need to set it for attacking 1 troop, 3, 5? regardless of what it's set to, it'd mean you could force a card block on an ally or receive a "tag" that you attacked an ally, because you attacked an ally that blocked you intentionally

Karma systems are a maybe option but realistically it may be best just to report under harassment "suicided early game for no reason" - as it's the only area it could potentially be considered as rule breaking

I don't think this is that bad of an idea, guys.

I see both sides. But the frustration of having some frustrated noob leave SA through NA to attack your larger stack in Australia on round 4, without provocation is very real. However - the key to avoid that is patience..in the lobby and use of the filter. Just only allow intermediate (or expert) level players or higher into your games.

Yeah, personally I'm still on the 'automatch only' boat...

If you are automached with:

  • nearby ranked players
  • anonymised lobbies
  • hidden names
  • optional block player if you really dislike playing with them

Anyone 'suiciding' each game will never get past int+ - and you'll end up only seeing them at novice / beginner only lobbies - playing with others that do the same mostly 😄

Even if you see cosmetics of other players, not seeing their names until game is over ensures it's a fair playing field, and if you only have say 10 automatch options for ranked - there's still plenty of players to ensure mix of games, along with system being able to separate you from replaying players for X time again

It immediately prevents:

  • hackers ever being encountered outside of int+ (banned first)
  • multi-account cheating even being remotely successful, maybe a 1 in 100 games you successfully get an 'alt' into your game, but it'd be so much time wasted to do so that it doesn't actually help you - and you need them at same rank etc.
  • playing with friends not being an issue (e.g could permit unranked with anyone, though not 100% sold on that idea - would rather a teams mode instead tbh)

@upper venture I think a “karma” system would be corrupted by players downvoting whoever defeats them. But a private note system would be great. A database table

  • your player id
  • opponent player id
  • string comment (40 char), visible in lobby before firing game

Automate the tagging of suicides based on the last 10 games. Don’t make it reportable just make it visible in the lobby. ie; eight red flags out of ten would be either a boot or I’d leave the lobby
