I heard u can still rank up faster if u get second place than if you get third or under. First is obviously best but is second much lower than first? And does third give u any benefit? My goal is to rank up by getting first most of the time but if that’s out of reach I just want to know if there’s a benefit in coming in top 3 or if it doesn’t matter.

The amount for 1st changes depending on your rank and the rank of your opponents.
However, interestingly, for a given number of players, the difference between the skillpoint change of 1st to 2nd, is the same as between 2nd and 3rd, and 3rd and 4th etc.
As a result, goingn up or down 1 placement always makes a difference

yeah getting second place gives you + rating points, less and less as you rank up though
you could get to at least expert by just getting second place relatively quick, it's slower after that but its possible to get to master. Ofc you should be resourceful and go for first but when not possible, second is fine
