Is there a point to capturing all countries when the goal is to capture all capitals? I've been on games that drag out because players are more concerned with maintaining continent control and conquering all countries over capturing capitals. I've won many Capital games by others trying to maintain their continent while ignoring their capital.
Are more points given if one conquers all opponents, countries and by victorious virtue, the capitals?

No, you don't get any more points. When it is 1v1 at the end some players take out the countries to improve their troops defeated/loss ratio. But I think that is a bit lacking in the honor departments
