Looking at the new 3.8 Sneak Peek Video, we see alot of exciting features, and others as well. One major concern is the implication of map choice before game settings, which is a rather backwards system of matchmaking. Settings are far more important in determining the type of gameplay than maps. Additionally , the absence of player/bot limits, and the choice for alliances seems a bit odd, but since this is only a preview it's hard to say what update will end up containing. Portals and neutral territores are sure to shake up the game as well. Anyone else have thoughts/hopes to share? https://youtu.be/lyT7f_alyS4

Youtube comments were quick to point out the increase to 20 tokens per game.

Looks like they’re making a tactical shift toward more players needing premium

Yeah, that's certainly there.
With a matchmaker based on settings of your choice, and hitting "go" will prevent any f2p players from joining interesting settings. Meaning the playerbase for these matches will be cut down hopefully not to an unplayable degree. It seems the same might be the case for maps/map packs as well, that might well ruin the game if it goes in that direction.

Portals will be exciting, and we’re already considering how to include them in 1v1 tourney, which has been looking for new settings to introduce for a long time

wow, quite a UI overhaul.
Makes me hopeful that the awful attack selector (1,2,3 or blitz) is improved, too

Just one big button for Blitz and 3 smaller ones for 1,2,3
(Enter key always blitzes if you want to keep it backwards compatible)
no annoying cycle through that can be triggered by accident and where you never know which direction is which
this also gets rid of the "stuck on manual" problem

Slider blitzing should remain in the game though, and should default back to 100% after every roll (or let that be toggleable in settings)
Also, mobile UI's blitz roll confimation button and the following troop movement confirmation button should be placed in the same location on the screen, and the delay before you can press the troop movement confirmation button needs to be removed akin to pc hotkeys.

When portals are mentioned, they say: "there are two ways to play, stable, and unstable." Any idea what this meant?

I will not be able to patriciate in the live Q&A due to the timeframe; however, below are some questions to potentially pose to the developer regarding the new ranking system:

  1. How will the ranking decay feature work (e.g. when will the decay start and how much will it drop due to inactivity)?

  2. With the introduction of new rank versions, which one will display on a user’s primary profile (e.g. right now it is the skill points rank)?

  3. Has any consideration been given to reducing the loss penalty? The severe penalty associated with losses frustrates users, discourages play, and encourages the creation of alternate/smurf accounts.

It looks really cool not to sure about portals they seem cool but not to often i love the new ui look and am excited for ranking changes in the future
