I put in some time over the past week and made it to GM finally. Hazaa 🥳 . Now what? What do you mean? Now we can finally play the game.
Stuff I learned playing 6P classic fixed games:
- It isn't quite as boring as I originally thought.
- Placing 2nd netted about 15-20k SP. And first was about 120-150k SP I think (I passed into GM around rank 5700~).
- Telling M/GM players apart is becoming easier. There really are some tells.
- Reversely, you don't need all the tips/tricks to win games. 90% seemed to be basic strategy and patience.
- Games usually entailed a variation of
(1) early game easy continent or no continent, but no real intense battles and use turn ins more freely to reduce cards and not look too weak
(2) mid game securing borders/cards and maybe causing problems for others - try to maximize turn-in results
(3) more of the same, don't get hasty or too aggressive..
(4) yep other players are causing a fuss so we just slowly keep building
(5) active stacks lategame and going for 2nd or 1st depending the troop counts on the board etc. - I can't really tell BOTS types apart, but they inevitable feature as people rage quit/drop/don't ready up etc. Paying some attention to who bots out and how the bot behaves was valuable.
