What Design Competitions would members like to see in the future?

As the host of Design Competitions, I’m curious about what you folks would like to see in regards to design competition themes, prizes, etc.

Design maps, I got some ideas I think would be cool, nothing revolutionary or anything but figured I'd toss my hat in the ring

Categories of things in Risk that currently have designs:

• Maps ✅
• Dice ✅
• Avatars
• Troop Counters
• Frames
• Cards

Avatars or Troop counters would be ideal themes if members want something with a high skill cap, and options to use advanced 3D art and design talent.

Frames or Cards would lend themselves more to beginner desingners looking to do some simple 2D art

Players always have a lot of map ideas, so bringing back maps at some point, with a different theme could also be popular

Could be a good idea to base it around themes. Like a Halloween theme or Christmas theme. Could be a design of any of the things sterling stated as long as it stays within theme. I think it would be fun.

I’ll probably cycle design types, so maps will definitely be making a comeback eventually. Seasonal themes are good as well.

Do they have the rights to use it?

@hollow mason I believe they made a board edition of it so would imagine it could be applied to a digital format such as the app too

Yeah but rights aren't typically transferable like that, if they were then whoever produces star wars toys could make their own star wars movies

The issue is there’s often a brand royalty paid on copies sold.

E.g. standard Risk sells for £24.99, but Lord of the Rings Risk sells for £44.99 leaving plenty of margin for royalties.

A Risk map pack of 5 maps for $3 to $5 (or maybe a little more for a movie-branded one) leaves less margin for royalties

Just imagining a 50$ map pack for 1 original (board) variant + 3 of our personal variants in that theme would go
