I think it's too heavily in favor of the attackers in games where large armies are involved. Any time you have a large army attacked by a larger force, the larger force consumes the smaller one at too high a ratio to the attacker. It really screws close fought games and boils them down to who has better positioning turn wise.

This is from the strategy channel. As you can see attackers have a slight advantage for each dice roll that happens. And those odds stack up with higher numbers. It's just how the dice rules in this game work.
