Settings and Modifiers
So we all know capital conquest games, particularly prog caps, can stalemate and drag on and on...and ON!
(This may also apply to other game types, that would have to be decided, please discuss! I mainly play caps, so I'm coming at it from that perspective)
Anyway my idea is to have an optional game timer setting (particularly for ranked games).
What I mean by this is, if you want to start a game but ensure that it doesn't drag on for hours, you could choose the game timer setting when you create the game. (So default would be the timer is off).
The timer could be based on actual time, so like, 30mins/1hr or a couple of options based on # of rounds (15/30? something like that, I'm kinda guessing here?)
The idea being that if the game isn't won by the time the game timer runs out, then the winner and rank placements are decided by # of capitals (and otherwise, troops/territory)
Again, this would be optional, something one could turn on if they want to. Or it could be a game type like "Timed Capitals"?
Sometimes I want to play a game, but I'm worried about getting sucked into a multi-hour stalemate situation. So this would just be an option to timebox games for those who want to keep it succint.
(optional - Perhaps there could even be an option to extend the game timer if it's close to running out and people actually do want to keep playing. The game could prompt players when it's getting close to the timer running out, asking them if they want to extend the game or finish it. If at least 2 people want to continue, those who don't want to extend it could be allowed to exit without penalty when the original timer is up (since they went into the game expecting a timed game), and be ranked based on their exit position, and whoever is left could continue to play for an extended duration...)
