Why?
Easier access to hide, I suppose
Killing buffalo still eats a big chunk of weapon durability
You can use weapons that deal bonus damage to animals, or use pets/tamed animals to kill them (a single buffalo can provide around 5â8 hides). On top of that, you can obtain Tier 4 leather from the Northern Tribe by trading claws. Because of this, I honestly think a cowshed producing Tier 4 hide is unnecessary, since we can already get plenty of hides through hunting or trading.
Someday, I dream, we will get milk and eggs to sell in our own store at Silverton.
Yeah, fair enough
Well , later you will get 600+ hides for a single weapon
It is harder as a T4 , yeah , but then it is one of the easiest things to farm
Easiest things to farm?!?!
I f you have T5 or above weapon maybe, but I have to use a Henry 44, and it takes the full gun to get 3 buffalo? That gets you 13-15 hide. You need 3 hides/1 leather. So I trade 8 steel ingots for 5 leather, and I only get 25-40 chromite on a run cause they won't let me finish the wagon to help carry more.
How is that a good trade when you need 15-20 leather to upgrade a table? That's 60 hides and 4 trips for chromite. That's crazy.
That's not counting armor, heal, and food.
Can you tame an animal to help you save dura/potions/armor?
Also, Hunter luck ring (or something like that) can help a lot if you can buy it in events.
Higher levels forget that t4 guys dont have all those buffes from skills they do. Its huge diffrence and miss understanding.
I do 1k damage with t2 rifle,
walking t4 areas like its t1 area.
Devs made mistake by puting big buffes on skills. Its not 2 or 5% diffrence in damage for weapons, its 2x20% on rifle,2x20% ond hundgun,2x20% on ranged weapon. But lower levels dont get any of it. So while it is easy going for us,its hard going for them, becouse its same buffes on animals and mobs for everyone.
The issue here isnât the drop rates, itâs your approach.
Buffalo are slow, clumsy, and deal relatively low damage. You do not need a T5 weapon to hunt them efficiently. Using a Henry .44 for buffalo is one of the most expensive and inefficient methods, which is why your resource cost feels so high.
A Tier 4 player can comfortably handle buffalo using melee weapons or a bow, both of which are cheap to craft and repair. This immediately reduces overall cost. Armor and healing consumption are also minimal due to the low damage output(unless you are using low-tier and rarity armor).
Additionally, if durability is a concern, you can tame an animal and let it handle most of the fight. It may take longer, but it significantly reduces weapon the exact issues youâre complaining about.
There are multiple efficient ways to hunt buffalo. If youâre choosing the most resource-intensive option, thatâs a gameplay decision, not a system problem.
âđœyeah i used to grab a local glacier/grizzly to farm mountain lake/shallow lake when i was little.
if anything I'd like the cow shed to give milk as well (and eggs from the chickens) so we can make blueberry pancakes đ«đ„
And what t4 melee weapon are you suggesting?
The 2 biggest hitters I have is the lvl5 war hammer at 485dam, and lvl4 apache spear at 450dam.
Tried them both and the problem is it takes longer to swing the hammer than it takes the buffalo to lunge, so i take as much damage as I inflict. Armor/heal is gone in 3 buffalo. So no good, as armor is almost as hard to keep up as weapons.
The spear is almost as bad mainly bc i get hit with 3-4wolves while working on 1 buffalo. So I use up heal faster that I can make it.
I know I'm not very good at this game, so my approach must be way off, but this is something the approach has nothing to do with. Ya stab, ya run, run back stab again, and run, trying to stab between lunges.
So what am I doing different than you, besides you being a higher tier?
And i tried this with a t3 polar bear, and used all her heal too!!
I was also trading bear claws in indian tribe back then . And if i had any guns from quests , i was using them on buffalo
