How bad is the loot lost from raids?

I'm new and basically rushed the game till lvl 60 or so but every time I got the raid alert I would just use my silver coins to pay them off since I didn't really use it but now I'm wondering what can I do to not lose the important loot I've gathered so far, just put it in center and surround it with an extra layer? And should I just upgrade my walls as a priority instead? How easy is it to defend if I am online? And is there a way to speed it up to defend so I don't have to wait the 6 hours .

I never bothered to reshape my base as a defense . And don't pay the raiders anymore , it's like throwing money in the river ... get yourself some tier 3 equipment ( average for your level ) and you should be okay

1. Never pay them!
2. Check out the ranch designs channel for ideas
3. Gear up and defend!
4. Make sure to kill them all and GET THE MAP from one of the bandits!
5. You can get your stuff back over a few trips to the bandit camp using the map
6. If you are offline, the raid will not start until you are online and enter your base BUT you must be at your ranch when the timer runs out!

Plus - no way to speed up the timer!

yeah waste of coins, use a strong weapon with decent armors and heals and find them quickly and kill them

and yes build walls for protection, you can shoot bandits through windows and they won't shoot back

Getting maps from ranch hitting bandits is one of the core mechanics of the game...
