Just tamed an animal at interfluve right as i was opening the cage. Minimap showed green but the jaguar just attacked me nonstop. No vid or ss unfortunately since I was kinda dying and focusing on running out

I think you have to lure the animal before opening the cage. I can spirit tame them before opening the cage, so I assume the same will go for lures.

By tame I mean using spirit. Opened the cage and spirit tamed them, showed as green on the minimap, then proceeded to attack me. Was not able to tame again and had to run in and out of the map to fix the issue.
But it almost killed me in the process. Not cool and a potential waste of a lot of rss to repair things.

wait till the animal comes out of the cage, if it does, then tame it

It’s possible but I’ve not had much luck with timing the game right as it emerges. Usually, if I want to tame a caged animal and not just kill it, I open the cage, run off the map, and reenter. The animal will be calm and walking outside it’s cage and tameable.
