This score does not make any sense in any kind of race cars.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd have 20 points, the 6th, 7th and 8 have -20 points. This does not reward the effort of being in first place at the expense of other places and also penalizes the last 3 places too much in the same way, which is not fair.
I think it should be something like this:
1st 20 points
2nd 15 points
3rd 10 points
4th 5 points
5th 3 points
6th 0 points
7th -5 points
8th -10 points
If there are eight runners proportional these points.
Psychologically should encourage players to improve and not be content to stay in 3rd because it is worth the same as the 1st place and also should not penalize equally a 6th place as equal to the last.

a recent update blocked us from being able to directly observe how many points were added or deducted from other players after each race. I think these 2 things (e.g. AI machine learning and blocking you from seeing the league points of others) are being done on purpose. Most of the time, the players you race in the multiplayer game are not real; they are just simulated players apparently using the real player account and race against you. They can be aggressive. They are accurate with the direction they are running crashing into you.. They can speed up higher than their supposed max speed to catch you.

MP primarily has 2 things: The rewards and the Leaderboard. So people complained about rush cause some people botted to get rewards in spite that botting was useless for leaderboard (bots end up 6th-8th = +1 0 or -1 points). So basically was being salty for not being first by pwning other people, or by not being able to get first without being able to put some real work (invest a lot of time).
So GL now made it so the points f-you real good if you lose and have little rewards unless 1st or 2nd (like rush lol) (Leaderbaord) but introduced the series which after all the nerfing it still and more efficiently be botted (Rewards). So now we have an even more bottable MP, a good player who doesnt like to grind can bot the entire season 24/7 for the 30k and then climb the leaderboard in a pair of days. By doing so, they killed the variety of cars in the game, since the punishment is too heavy for using anything but the best car that you can drive. Basically 90% of the people use D: Elise, DS and Furai. C: ACR, Artega, H2 and NSX, B: vette and EVO (few apollo/F12) and A: 918, AVJ, BC (and the B ones).
Basically the same grinding, but now some good players can get the top spots rewards more easily at price of F-ing everyone else.
Also the primary point of this point system is good people being able to go down in points to stomp other players for easy series. I have seen a lot of RPM/RLM/Le mans staying in gold to farm points instead of playing with people on platinum/legend as they would be in the case of rush scenario (where is basically impossible or very hard to go down in league)
We need a rush series for series points = farming
And a classic series just like MP2 where people can get some rewards by being good while showing some e-benis.
And farming series are not even needed to be that long for the the game itself, GL use it for people using money on maxing good cars fast or by burning tokens on more fuel (battle pass) and fast refueling/fast tickets without having to spend minutes watching ads.

About 2 laps, dont know about the playerbase but personally I hate it. I used to just stop grinding after reaching league cause of that, not even AFK TDing (manual botting) was worth with 2 laps.
Thats why i think that it should be split in 2 leagues, one for the majority of the players (grinding with high car variety) and another for the e-benis thirsty tryhard ones (which will end up with the current variety of cars).
