what electric steering does is that it replaces the steering rod entirely and replaces it with a motor so that the person uses less force to steer the car then with a steering rod and power steering.

electric steering has been around for a long time.

and as you can guess the downside is that a sudden loss of power means that you have no control of the steering.

or at least that is from my understanding.

the advantage of a electric steering over power steering is that electric steering gives better MPG because power steering uses hydraulic pumps that are always running.

although If I remember correctly there are cars with electric steering that uses a steering rod instead of just completely relying on the motor.
