alternatively if you got a spare computer either with an amd cpu or one you can install linux to (since apparently the issue is only/mostly on intel cpus (maybe some?) and in my and toxxy's testing there's no crashing on intel in linux), you can try running it there and connecting accounts that way, but that's probably too much effort

what's your specs i'm curious? the game needs a gpu that supports vulkan or dx12 (which gets converted to vulkan via proton anyway), and there's been issues with the game not starting on intel cpus, although it doesn't seem to affect linux so far

Intel HD 5500 iGPU (dx12 is a major issue)
8 GB ram
Before switching from Windows 10 the game could run on this system on low settings but it was playable.

directx is terrible and cant be optimized for any gpu/cpu

and this game's vulkan implementation is basically identical to dx12 so you cant do much there either

right click the game in steam, click properties, put --backend vulkan in the launch options box, see if the situation gets better

oh also, what type of storage do you have the game installed on? nvme ssd, sata ssd, mechanical hard drive? maybe it's struggling to load something, although idk if that's how it works with this game
