my idea for an infected revamp update - this is a rough idea and would require a lot of balancing/changes...

Lets start with the infected area. you could make a new area by mixing boar badlands , raptor nest , ancient ruins together with encounters spawning every hour with a 10% chance to drop black nanos here is the catch limit the drops to 5 black nanos a day having a max 7 infected units a week ! you could scale these encounters with your level [proto,arch,apex] having it as a possible SP farm making it worth to drop in even if you've gotten all your black nanos for the day. This would also be a f2p way to obtain nanos with 1 nano a day 365 a year.

With that out of the way the next idea would be a infected boss that spawns weekly like the AC in this infected area mentioned above. The boss could be a midgame Boss that starts spawning around Level 35 In-between AC/AS . The boss would be some kind of mutated hive mind / brain with kraken like abilities of fixed tentacle instead an ability would be linked to said boss to spawn a random number of infected units to protect itself with random prefix's [prototype,arch] examples could be 2 colossi tanks up front with bullfrogs as support in the back. The boss its self could have custom Acid / Aoe attacks with a decent hp/armor pool and varying resistances on hp and armor.

Now onto the drops instead of a Boss unit you have it drop a custom resource For mutating infected units into Apex variants. but you limit this to only 2 drops per encounter with a 1 week respawn similar to the kraken 100% drop chance for teeth and have the apex conversion require 8 of this mutation resource meaning you would only get 1 apex a month making it a grind But not insanely op. While i don't know if you would add maulers and Colossi to this group and only keep it to base units would be up to the devs because they are quite strong but you could buff base infected to make up for this and keep the maulers and colossi to infected boss strike

We have the infection test facility and black nanopod facility so the apex conversion could be done in a new building Maybe Black nano Evolution Facility to keep it simple

This would remove the % rng boss drop chance for once and would make an actual grind process instead of praying for Drops. You could even add in a Custom apex evolution option for a possible mauler / colossi drop if people wanted Boss drops with the chance of it being a Apex mauler / colossi being insanely low like 2/3%

I think we should keep the Mini infected base invasion events just for a boost in black nanos every so often and people have liked these events in the past
