#Promotional Unit Availability

Part of the issue with promotional units was their nature as "limited-run, buy-now-or-forever-miss-out". I suggest changing them to a "limited availability for in-game resources, permanently available for nanos" model. My proposal would work as follows:

  • Upon (re)introducing a new unit, make the sale price cost in-game resources: Gold, Steel, Oil, Gears/Bars/Teeth/Skulls, etc. as appropriate.
  • After one or two weeks, change the price to nanopods, with prices ranging from 50-90, depending on the unit.

This could also require a special training facility (unlocked after completing one of two objectives:

  • Clearing the mission "Warlord Gantas"
  • Defeating the Ancient Construct for the first time

This would work well for making the units available to players who otherwise may have completely missed them, and might increase the amount of income via nanopods without using extreme emotional manipulation via FOMO to accomplish it.

Addendum: rather than re-running the units as part of a special event, the units could once again be temporarily made trainable using freely obtainable resources.

I am opposed to the re-release being the only potential way to get these units upon reintroduction.

Perhaps a better system would be to level lock it and then start the timer? That way players can have already been prepared to actually maybe get it instead of being left in the dust.
-# that is if we go with this method anyways...

For example: Reach level 32, Promo unit Jerek The Crusher is unlockable for pshh 48 hours, at the cost of manual resources before being nano.

Unfortunately as much as a band-aid solution that is, I think their plan will be to either leave or keep units nano. And I think certain promo units not only need a balance change, some just shouldn't cost nanos anymore. The same can be said of course with generic units already (See Medium Tank)

If the developers plan to (in the next decade?) give nanos per scheduled events, then the manual resource thing may be redundant depending on how many are dispensed in frequency.
