That sucks that you forgot to cancel in time, but not sure why the post.
Unsure if there were any other options in what I could do, I thought it wouldn't hurt. I was not aware that they want you to cancel 10 days prior, seems a bit excessive compared to other services.
I completely understand them pausing the service for nonpayment for example, but the idea that you can't cancel on your due date is a bit backwards, as a business.
