At this point this anticheat shouldn't exist, this was working before so unless microsoft or 343 changed something epic has some serious control problems
add Halo Infinite to that list
Master Chief Collection Multiplayer and Halo Infinite Broken (EAC Cannot Run Under Virtual Machine)
I think this will happen to all eac games atp TwT
Yep, if you search my messages I've said this in the chat channel as can't play it anymore either.
Also got a reply to my support ticket, not hopeful and no mention of talks with Epic, hard not to be skeptical of that claim in the Discord server as maybe just a delaying tactic.
Officially, there's no news, and short of convincing each individual game dev to revert back to an earlier version of EAC (which will be less effective at protecting) for cloud PC users (a small group of players compared to majority of the market), but also having them stay on that old version and not update when the next update comes out, or the one after that, etc. is extremely unlikely and just puts off the inevitable.
Only ends properly if Epic give Shadow a pass and whitelist them (somehow), and they've no reason or incentive to.
It's a blow, it really is, I really wish Shadow and Epic could sort something out but realistically it's probably unlikely.
Watch out for the less informed in this server who will berate you, block you for pointing out the facts, will conflict it with server outage/DDoS back in December in their own post or otherwise try to stirr up trouble in this or other discords (they've admitted to).
I'm just saying, don't hold your breath on this being "fixed", have a Plan B.
If you use Shadow for other non-EAC games and things, great, carry on. If you use it for an EAC game and now can't, well prepare to leave or waste your subscription waiting, find your renewal date, backup any important data and be prepared to make that choice to stay or go (can always come back if things change, whenever that maybe).
I replied and asked further, their response is attached, as you can see even Shadow's own support go to is to give instructions on how to cancel.
I sympathise they don't have power over the situation to resolve it, Epic do, however they have power over their own systems such as my suggestion that if there was anything happening in the background could we pause the subscription but keep the data, archive, lower cost, until a time to either resume it or cancel it if no fix.
The line about doing their best to inform developers is oddly vague, I hope they're not trying to convince each individual game developer to either revert EAC as that will only be a short term fix, or try to convince developers to drop EAC, unlikely to, or to put in some override to allow VMs or Shadow PCs, that will require unbudgeted work on the game devs so doubtful, even if they did again maybe only short term until that option is removed by Epic.
I hope they mean Epic EAC developers, but have they just sent an email and are waiting? "Best to inform" does not exactly sound like in talks or discussions sadly.
It's unfortunate but the signs are pointing to cancelling as the only option.
As my monthly renewal has come and gone, I have 3 and a bit weeks to wait and watch, but no point letting it renew again.
I'm going to miss having a cloud gaming PC I could start on my phone anywhere and be ready in a couple of mins and not have to worry about the hardware.
There's back and forth communication between Epic and Shadow at this stage. About all I can say though.
You mean halo “Jim”finite
I'm pleased there's now an official communication from Shadow and it does say there are ongoing discussions with Epic.
I still think it's a bit frustrating that Shadow only offer two options at this stage, wait and keep paying them for a service you can't use or cancel and lose your data/installation and have to start over again in the future.
A cheaper monthly rate to "archive" your VM and resume it when UAC have allowed Shadow would be a nice option.
You are not paying for a service "you can't use". There are only ... how many? 20? ... games you cannot play for now. And not even all games with EAC are blocking VMs so far. There are tons of games you can play on Shaodw.
every game i have that uses EAC is blocked rn, its spreading between the games
It’ s ~1200 games (EAC/Javelin/Vanguard/Battleye/ACE) that may not work today on VM’s vs. More than 100000 working.
All of which I can play on the platform I’m streaming to, except this handful of games I can only play on shadow. Think about other people before assuming they’re all in the same situation. You’ll go much further in life.
I really hope that Shadow doesn’t sell games with EAC in it
If this is still on going i would just get a prebuilt pc and do that
The more longer this goes the more of players will unsubscribe to the service
do you know alternative virtual machines that can run eac games?
Boosteroid (you can play all you want), Geforce now (has a 100h monthly cap)
Those are the 2 best ones I could think of and what I've been using since eac said f u
I see
But how would connect GeForce to your headset
Cause I’m not seeing a thing for virtual desktop or nun
So how would play pc vr
sadly none of those have star citizen
