Ive been using it over the last 2 weeks and it jumps between 50/60fps i make sure to close everything that doesnt matter in task manager. Its playable but just curious whats bottlenecking it i feel like it should be able to run higher fps (using a 144hz monitor)

Never played it so can't help, but my guess would be CPU bottleneck.

Also bare in mind this is community based help. Could be not many play it that monitor these posts.

Me too, I didn't want to write to you because I simply never played it. but reading on the web, it's a game that requires a good load of CPU and cores.

"Started playing Rust on GFN and it feels pretty laggy(40-50 fps).
If anyone got any recommended graphics settings for a good looking and 60+ fps please let me know. I'm using the priority tier so I get a RTX 3060 most of the time."

Try (on Shadow, probably works on GFN, too):

graphics:

graphic quality = 6
water quality = 0
water reflections = 0
shadow quality = 0
shadow casc = none
draw distance = 600
shader level = 600
aniso filtering = not sure, test with 2
parallax = 0
glass displacement = off

mesh settings:

tree = 200
particles = 0
terrain = 0
grass = 0
object = 200

image settings:

ALL off

screen settings:

exclusive, v-sync off

also look for "max gibs" under performance and set it to 0.
last but not least start with field of view = 90 ...

starting with this settings, you can try to prettify the graphics.
