Hi, do you have enabled on the controller section of Steam the Xbox controller support? Also you’re using Steam on Big Picture Mode?
Yes I enabled Xbox controller, I am not using big picture mode
Okay, could you try Big Picture Mode and see if it works?
it does not work in big picture mode or when I open up a game
Strange…
Can you try a page for testing the gamepad and see if it works? You can find them on internet searching gamepad tester
Did you select on Steam, the Xbox controller tick?

Did you enabled, Steam overlay and Steam controller conf. support?
ok, so i am not able to select the checkbox next to the controller in the quick menu section under controllers & usb
You don't need to forward it, in this case. Shadow support already native basic Xbox and PlayStation controllers ( not ps5, or the Xbox Elite, because are special controllers - have more features ).
In this case, you need, to select, Xbox profile, directly on Steam.
Well then I was unable to get a website to discover the controller, and using the second strategy in the link above showed me that windows couldn’t see the controller
Okay, so then the issue is than Windows cannot detect the controller too…
On your local PC(MacOS) works fine?
i tried the game controller testing websites on mac and they did not work. shadow is still able to detect the controller on the mac side
I’m using a usb connection trough a usbc adapter btw
Okay, so then you have to first make it work on your Mac, then after that you will be able to make it work on Shadow
Doing a quick research on the Internet says than the controller can be only connected on MacOS using Bluetooth and not USB, so try connecting it using Bluetooth
