well, like this I would say it's a network issue, are you using wifi/powerline, can you give details on your ISP and network type (xDSL, docsis, fiber ?)
wifi. yo don't tell me to get eternet as advice, like my connection is still fine but maybe comcast/xfintity (my isp) is like "nah don't use too much bandwith". my connection is supposed to be like 200 mbp, but of course i get way lower than that
It can be either one, a bad wifi signal or a bad isp.
If you have a spare ethernet cable kicking around try it for a bit and see if it helps, otherwise its definitely your isp
For examples my wifi 5ghz has 50ms and packet loss, while on ethernet i get no packet loss 25ms
is a wifi adapter just as good because i think it would take a lot of extra work to get eternet. plus, i need some external device to use externet since my pc doesn't seem to have things for that
@strange spruce it's actually simple.
Direct Ethernet is the most stable kind of home network.
So it's the best / only way to diagnose an issue with wifi, or your ISP.
@strange spruce nope.
Powerline isn't direct ethernet.
And don't buy anything for now, except maybe an USB to Ethernet adapter if you have no ethernet port on your computer.
I'd just like you to test in direct ethernet to see if you got the same issue as with wifi.
Don't buy a new local networking system before knowing it's not your ISP the culprit.
are cat 6 cables good enough?
Yes.
