1. I have had shadow since October 2019 and pre-ordered infinite/ultra (UK) which didn't materialse unfortunately. I received an email to pre-order and was successful which is amazing. However I also registered my interest in May. How do I know if I will qualify for the discounted pricing @ £9.99 per month? I received email at 14:20GMT on 20th if that helps, confirmation email received 21st September.
2. I've read above that those on discounted pricing will receive an AMD Epyc 7543P CPU with 4 cores/8 threads and an a4000 GPU. Question, I assume this CPU is shared between accounts as that looks to offer 32/64, does that mean we'll have an 8th of performance of the full-fat CPU? (Sorry perhaps a daft question!)

Hi I can only answer some of your questions. So here it goes!

1. If you pre-ordered your set for now. Pip answered the rest of the first question.
2. VM’s can be allocated virtual cores and real cores. The advantages of Virtual cores is that if no one is using the cpu you can have the full cpu. The downside is that the Virtual CPU is often over allocated and theft of resources is common during load. Shadow does the second type of allocation where they assign Real Cores to your vm and only you have access to those cores and threads. No sharing with others no over allocation of resources…… I will note that the rules of thermodynamics cannot be overcome and if someone is blender rendering it will affect boost speeds on everyone’s shadow on the blade.

Also the GPU is assigned to you so no sharing of the gpu with others like say GeForce now

There were two emails. One was the type form for you to fill your interest in having the Power Upgrade Pre-Order.

The second email was to confirm that you have a slot assigned to you, as long as you pay/confirm through a third email that is coming, most likely in October but surely way before the 26th Oct.

There was a small chance today (If you had a Shadow Infinite or Ultra pre-order that Shadow was unable to offer you, that if you are an Europe User) for you to get the access to an Early Access early October. If you got that and accepted the early access you’d get slightly low specifications GPU-wise. And you would pay a lower price for the upgrade. (9.99€/$ instead of 14.99€/$), if you didn’t get that email today, you won’t most likely have the access to the early access, if for some reason you have an email offering you that but you don’t wish to have lower specifications, then you can always wait for the email to order it normally and have access to the Shadow Power Upgrade starting 26th October.

Some received a message saying November, when filling in the first form. This was for DE on day 1, so would mean all slots at that point for Oct release were all gone.

It’s a high probability that all slots in other regions for Oct 26th are also all gone. So unless anyone forgets or doesn’t want to validate the order anymore, general release will be November onwards.

Shadow says that the power upgrade card will be similar to a 3070 in terms of performance. Does that actually hold truth or will it be greater? From what I've seen, the a4500 is a very capable card which in most cases even performs better than the 3070ti and close to a 3080.

Probably in October the 500 users that they have the opportunity to test the early access ( but with the Nvidia A4000 instead of A4500, is the unique difference at the moment, apart for the price obviously) they'll give this specific information.

Well I guess it’s a good thing that in 2-3 years time Base shadow will upgrade and so will the Power add on. The CPU may be weak for some titles, BUT for it’s price Base shadow is still good value, however Power is just even better value.

A register interest form went out in May

Europeans who preordered Ultra and Infinite in late 2019 who never received and filled in this form were the first batch of people to receive emails 20th September to reserve a slot for release, followed by people who filled in the form. They received confirmation of reservations on the 21st.

The form is pinned in this channel, it might be a dead link now I am not sure, it might send you email to fill in form, but equally it might just tell you to check your account in November as no reservations possible.

IF people who have a slot reserved do not validate the order by 26th October, those slots will be available and appear on people’s accounts to add it.

Depending on the setting, turning low takes the load from the GPU onto the CPU which is only really something you’ll want to do if the GPU is the bottleneck. Which on shadow isn’t really something you’d run into, majority of the time it’s the CPU being maxed out and not the GPU. Best thing is to find a balance of high utilisation of both CPU and GPU.

From the looks of it, I have been hearing a few people mentioning that they got access to the new hardware and it may be something where you randomly gets it assigned since it may be in the node and the hardware is simply available. Maybe something for you to “take a taste of it”, although it may not be something permanent and for example soon whenever it rolls out, you losing the access to it, if you’re a Boost user.

It’s fair. Although that seems to be an error with the node that they are assigning to you, don’t stop using Shadow as you’ve used before, just due to a small mistake, even if you want to be fair. The reason for that is, even if you use Shadow for your normal everyday stuff, while you use that GPU it won’t be assigned to anyone else.

In a certain project, I’m in, I have been assigned a few things for free, I reported them and delivered that same stuff back.

like if i added storage now so i setup shadow with pro rate my bill will be 43.35 which is easilly affordable for me but if they add the power upgrade charge on top of that it will be 58.34 which i can just about afford but the pro rate if they add that will take me over what i can afford this month as ive already sorted all my monthly outgoings

No. It failed, though interestingly enough the method to bypass windows 11 checks via a regedit is by default already there. Technically shadow could let us upgrade already

@lusty moss Not relevant to this post.. But to answer in the best way.. Your Shadow isn't in the UK and is in France, Swedish accounts connect to the same one your UK account is in (if it's been migrated from Paris) or in Frankfurt, depending which you're closest to.

If you're closer to Frankfurt then I guess cancel your sub, wait till ended and delete the account and create Swedish account. I doubt support can transfer it over, worth asking. Change of datacentre will mean if you have a Power add-on slot reserved it won't be transferred.

Had an email from the excellent Shadow support confirming my pre-order. Due to the multiple emails 20 Sep GMT at 14:18, 21 Sep 17:16 GMT and there was an extra one on 28 Sep 15:02 which is why I emailed saying the pre-order for me would be November. Those emails were wrong as the 2nd one said around 26 confirmed. They said they are working on the emails “Due to the demand, we are sending them out in batches. You should be receiving an email in the coming days with more information regarding your preorder!” so we should expect some further information maybe today or tomorrow for the end of the week.

Hopefully this helps some people out. This was for my Paris Pre-order as I’m in the UK.

guys what will happen when you trynna upgrade to the power upgrade but you are already subscribed to shadow normal offer would they give the upgrade to you and next month bill you will be charged

they won't give you power for free for a few days I know that. When you upgrade your new rate will more than likely be prorated for the time used

its the same concept for storage. if you upgrade your storage mid billing cycle they prorate your bill for the time you had extra storage

I’m from the U.S and I got the email…U.S does not have early access so if you’re in the U.S this does not mean you have early access.

I got my shadow back and my account is under maintenance again.I think a bug appeared and it deleted my shadow but I am able to log back in and it works good.

From my understanding, if people on the French/UK got their emails, it means they might be "Early Access" people, because for instance. USA doesn't have Early Access, so it doesn't matter if people start ordering, while for EU it might matter more.

You should have received 2 emails so far. 1 to fill in form and one confirming you’ve reserved a slot. If your account is needing to be migrated to the new system you’ll receive an email about that too, mentioning that when it’s on the new system you’ll be able to validate the preorder ready for 26th (or earlier for early access - if accepted the offer)
