#my G2E makes me crazy.

On my Trident 300, I had a G2E with a Rapido Standard flow which have extrusion issue...I mean under-extrusion or let's say it clearly, after a short period do not extrude anymore.

It happened since I put the dragchain for the Nitehawk-SB Can bus cable. I had the Nitehawk-SB since roughly 6 months.

I double checked the PTFE from the rear to the toolhead, tried ID 2mm or ID 3mm. with no more success. I dismantle the G2E, cleaned the extruder gear which was slightly dirty. i double checked the radius of the PTFE too, and tried with and without a curved guide on top of the toolhead.

my .cfg file got the below found on the G2E Installation manual :
[extruder]
rotation_distance: 47.088
gear_ratio: 9:1
microsteps: 16
[tmc2209 extruder]
run_current: 0.6

When I run the 10mm extrusion at 2mm/s with a static toolhead , it works, but it also stopped to extrude.
I must remove the PTFE on top, and slightly, very slightly push/help the filament to go thru the G2E to have extrusion again.

I don't know what to do more TbH,

You will see the pictures I joined

If you have any suggestions, Ideas, feel free to raise them.

Thx
Yann

The “PTFE” looks awfully clear which makes me think it could be FEP which can add a lot of drag especially around tight bends

hi
What do you mean by FEP ?

#

Ok got it
But i tried those ones , and same issue

Then we need to start thinking about taking the extruder apart

ok , FYI, I also changed the PTFE from the G2E to the Rapido, but it remains the same issue.
My tension screw is set up at 2.5 turns from the fully loose.

I was thinking about heatcreep as I was trying to print at 260°C.
I also tried to reduce at 250°C, which can be seen on the MVS calibration print picture attached above with a non full- transparent PTFE.

The two things I want to know about your Galileo is that the gearbox is adequately lubricated and that you have not done the “off by one tooth” error

#

These are unique Galileo problems that need ruling out before we can focus on more “normal” problems

I did not lubricate it again , but good point, I could try…
I have no idea what is the « off by one tooth » error.

I search for it

It’s covered in the manual in quite some detail

I have now cleaned the extrusion gear, put a pea of grease , and joined the 2 parts.
The only resistance I have is , according to me, due to the electric stepper.

#

I assume that it is normal to have such a resistance. Am I correct ?

I ran this morning a 80x80x0.20 1st layer test , with no issue.
then ran a max flow rate calibration, and got the same issue.

@frail moon I found the issue : ME 😂
I tightened too much the 2 M3X30mm screws which maintained the stepper motor to the printed parts (page37 of the G2E manual)...too much tightening of those screws doesn't enable the extrusion gear to rotate "freely" and causing too much resistance...I ran a 1st layer test with no issue...yes I have finally have one good print....:D...i am currently printing a MaxFlow Rate calibration, all good too....Whaou.
Never Give up

well done for working it out
