Hey all! I saw we have a build log channel here so figured I would share my progress on my very first Voron build.

Some Details:
Sources:
Formbot 2.4 r2 Kit (bought in 2022)

Formbot "Upgrade" kit to bring it up to the Pro+ offering (bought in 2025)

Size: 350mm

Location: USA - 110v

Background:
I started out with an Ender 3 Pro when they first came out and got bit by the bug. I've heavily modified it and really enjoyed the tinkering aspect and being able to design and print things.

Then I decided I wanted to see about helping the local cosplay community with prints for costumes, props, etc... so I ordered the initial kit in 2022.

Due to life and adulting, my build project kept getting pushed back and it sat in my garage, then storage when I got laid off, and now finally it's being built.

Planned Mods:
I'm honestly out of the loop on the current Voron mods, I'm planning to build the kit as is right now, get it working and printing, then explore mods. I know the tool changer stuff looks awesome, I've also seen videos on the multi-color prints just recently using just 4 or 5 colors. I'm open to suggested or favorite mods from the community for me to learn about and explore after this build is complete.

Day 1 of progress (5/21/26)

Got the frame built, z rails installed, and z drives installed.

Day 2:
A note to future first timers, double check what you have against the manual as well, the z drive belts I had in the kit were too short (had to order more) and my "mgn12h" labelled bag had another mgn9h, so I've ordered a rail for that.

Other than that, productove day overall and learned a lot and familiarized myself with the motion system since this is my first corexy, it's fascinating..

Got the bed installed along with the thermal fuse, I used wago connecters in case I ever need to replace it.

Got majority of the gantry and z rails done, once the new mgn12h rail and z belts come in, I can finish that up.

Day 3:
Got my replacement z belts and the mgn12h rail in over the weekend and was able to get a lot accomplished today.

Z belts and gantry belts are done (not tuned yet) and my voron tap carriage is in.

Started building my CW2, Stealthburner, and CANBUS, got most of it done but found they left out my nema-14 stepper motor from the kit so got that ordered.

Youngest kitty Willow says old belts are no good.

Z belts installed and gantry sitting on it own

#

A/b belts installed and voron tap center installed

Ending progress for the day, got most of the CW2 and Stealthburner done, once the motor comes in I can finish wiring them and get it installed

Today's progress now that I have the right stepper for CW2.

Got the tool head mounted and started working on electronics which is when I realized the power inlet they sent me is a single piece (diff from the BOM) and the printed skirt I have for that section won't fit.

My plan to to wire it up and get it running then print a new skirt piece that will fit with it.

As far as I can tell it'll work fine, I just need to adjust.

Sorry, I've been slacking on the updates, here are some images of progress I've made this week.7

Got all the wiring done and waited to start buttoning it up until after I got to the cold QGL which I was able to finally get to.

I ended up going with as sensorless homing because my switches were nowhere to be found, along with my exhaust stuff so I resin printed something to close that off(it's temporary until I can print it in ABS.

I was trying to explain what was going on to my grandpa as best as I understand it, he used to be an electrical engineer for IBM

Printed my first calibration cube, haven't done input shaping or pressure advance yet, no tuning at all yet except for QGL.

Well, I've submitted my serial request, I still have some tuning I'd like to do but it's printing fairly well for a first go if I do say so myself (though I'm a noob lol). Just so exciting to see something you've spent days working on spring to life

First additional mods on order/in the works. Have a cartographer with the CNC carriage on the way to replace TAP and I'm working on the clicky door mod as the default dual doors irritate me lol
