The short answer is, You have issues with your start code

It’s not going back to 220, because different things are messing with the temp, and they aren’t really aware of each other

Basically the slicer is setting the tempt to 220 right at the beginning. So then, as far as it’s concerned, that’s done

What it doesn’t know, is that the safety for your probe is then coming in and reducing the temp….

Thanks, you are right. My OrcaSlicer profile contained the same Machine Start code as was used for my old Ender3. That was not a good combination.

Now I need to figure out why the printer isn't moving to the correct z height after z tilt adjust and bed meshing. It immediately starts rubbing the hotend on the surface instead of moving to the first layer.

are you homing Z again after z tilt? (you should)

generally the slicer moves to the first layer height in Z, THEN moves out to the printing location, so dragging the hotend at that stage of the process would suggest that the Z height is off for some reason
