As my other Voron's each have multi colour/material use already I decided to build a new Trident for my Bondtech INDX build.

This will be a slowish build because INDX is still a few months away but I wanted to get started now, and will have it printing before than anyway.

To save costs on the actual printer I am using parts I already have, so specifically the bed will be an old PrintrBot one but I will add an AC heater to it. Controller will be a Fly Super8 and CAN/USB toolhead board will be a Fysetc Combo v2. Will also have a Carto V4 and CNC mount (Until INDX arrives) and also giving a CPAP setup a go.

I did need a frame for this build and @loud hatch kindly sent me an open box LDO Space Grey frame (Need to drill an extrusion but the jigs made this an easy fix)

Only picture for now is the frame ready to build and the CPAP SB cover.

Sweet! Looking forward to follow the INDX build!

Frame is together and a few parts arrived. Will need to print a few more parts but I can start assembly this weekend.

Now waiting for magnet sheet and PEI build plate (Same order) and I "Think" I have everything to get a functional printer expect panels which I'm now sure what I'm doing for those yet.

Will be interesting to see this come together. I'm just about to start a 250 build myself and am looking at the possibility of INDX

Not as much done this weekend as I wanted, came done with the flu :(. But got the idlers and B & A drives on and started the mesh skirts.

Also decided to use some old CW2 parts I took off my other Trident when I add a BoxTurtle to it, they are glitter grey parts so not to far off the colour scheme, I thought it's only a temp setup until INDX comes out so no need to print new parts.

Also got the rails out ready to grease up and the hotend fan and neopixles in the CPAP SB cover.

Progress is progress 😎

Made a little more progress, printed more parts and had some things arrive.

BUT, a question has come to mind about my choice of aluminium bed. Its 6.5mm thick and I'm wondering if this is going to be ok? It was originally a Printrbot metal plus bed with a PCB heater. I plan on attaching a AC 500w silicone heater.

I do need to drill some holes in it, so ordered an M3 counterbore bit to do it.

Last little update before Christmas and New Year break.

Decided to have a go at getting more progress done. Plus a few parts arrived, Cartographer V4 and blue CNC mount.

So X axis mounted, belts run and CNC carriage mounted. Also using the rear mounted endstop.

So the next step for the build is the heated bed and as I'm modifying an alu plate for this I've started looking at where I need to drill holes. Here's my first attempt, circled holes will be mounting holes and then 2 dots show the fuse & earth connection.

Any thoughts?

Well after a few re-measures to be certain, the bed is drilled and I even did a test fit before posting to be sure, lol.
Now I can get the magnet and then heater attached.

Also installed the toolhead to get wiring lengths for the endstop and heater/thermistor from the Revo.

More progress, bed now has the magnet and heater applied. While that was being done I also cut and added the DIN rails and some cable management brackets.

Bed mounted and started the wiring.

Things escalated with the wiring up, lol. Basically everything works and now I just need panels so I can do the final wiring cleanup.

CPAP is loud af, haha.

So done a little more wiring tidying and first print. Still need panels and I think as INDX is the plan a top hat, I think I’ll do a printed top hat. If anyone has a good one to use please let me know.

Actually I have changed a few things since this picture and print.

Changed the umbilical cable to be tidied with the PTFE rather than CPAP hose.
And wired the @tribal temple ElectrPi fan to a controllable port.

A little bit more progress. Fysetc 5" DSI screen added, along with nozzle brush mount and Vector3D LED PCBs.

I think I'm going to make a start of the printed top hat too.

Wanted a good test print for my new Voron trident build. Found this tentacle headphones stand, 8hrs later it came out perfect.

Panels and start of the printed tophat. SC printed tophat requires a medallion to hold the panels together, and while it offers a few options i felt a custom one was needed :).
