I am only using my SHTv3 with a hardware homing endstop so essentially using it only for z_tilt and bed_mesh. Do you have the option to add a switch?

Also, according to eddy-ng wiki and I have observed as well, mounting the coil higher seems to help accuracy. I’d shoot for 5mm.
