Hello,

I have recently rebuilt my v2.4 and I'm trying to figure out the resonances as the Y axis seems quite off to me

Mods:

  • XOL toolhead
  • G2SA
  • Cartographer
  • Beefy Front Idlers
  • EBB36
  • Carbon XY joints
  • Sensorless homing
  • Bowden cable support (The reccomended one)

Accelerometer used:
ADXL345 on the EBB36

Belt tension:
Tuned to 110hz using the Carbon Drive app, measured at 150mm from center of toothed gear to center of idler

Did you qgl before running test?

brave slate
#

I did run QGL, though I can try again

#

also ill send the images, one moment

#

I will admit the wiring can be a good bit better

From googling it, it seems to somehow come from tmc_autotune, but i really dont know how I got those

I will remove those and retest

brave slate
#

ah, i didnt know that. Makes me wonder even more how and where i got those from

fading shadow
#

You need to make sure all wiring is off the x-axis

I will redo the wiring after dinner

#

this way u dont need to think, guess or assume 😉

Cracked parts can do weird things to input shaper

livid breach
#

because they are not normal GT2 gates

brave slate
livid breach
#

normal GT2 are not black/black

#

they are brown/black

fading shadow
#

We get brown black here

brave slate
#

The image on the website is indeed brown/black. When i received them i was surprised but thought it was just the color

livid breach
#

if its GT3, u need higher tension to have them equal to GT2 in terms of performance - which u can not do without double shear

brave slate
livid breach
#

odd, never ever seen black/black GT2

brave slate
#

Me neither, though since the text matched i thought it would be fine

livid breach
brave slate
#

ah, i might look at getting them sometime soon. Sucks as I just got these installed

brave slate
#

I have now done the following:

  • Centered the belts on the motors
  • Replaced the blue bowden/canbus clips with zip ties
  • Removed the driver_TBL: 1 & driver_TOFF: 3 from my config
  • Made sure none of the wires are touching the X axis
  • Replaced the cracked extruder part
#

Here are my results, the spike at ~125hz on the Y axis would mean there is something loose in the toolhead, correct?

#

Not entirely sure if these add anything but I decided to try out the adxl on the cartographer as well

livid breach
#

check for loose screws etc

brave slate
#

I've checked all the screws, however as I took the tool head apart I noticed that I could slightly wiggle the carriage

Could this be an issue? In the video I have reassembled the tool head so it's a lot easier to see

fading shadow
#

Can you focus on the bottom half around the linear rail carriage

brave slate
fading shadow
#

Did you check the fours screws that go into the x-linear rail carriage?

brave slate
#

Yup, they are tight, though even on the printed part on the carriage there is some play when I wiggle it

livid breach
#

Which Rail is it?
Vendor
Preload
ModelNo. If available

brave slate
#

It's an older rail from a formbot kit, so I'm really not sure

fading shadow
#

What x-carriage are you using?

livid breach
brave slate
#

The printed parts are the XOL carriage

#

I can take a look at my email but a few years at least

Can't find the original email but it's 2021/2022

brave slate

#

When was the last time you lubed the rails, and how many hours are on them?

fading shadow
brave slate
#

Last time was the rebuild so a week or two ago, basically 0 hours

livid breach
#

And before that?

brave slate
fading shadow
#

So you relubed a week or so ago?

brave slate
brave slate
fading shadow
#

Were any of the balls dull, or were they all shiny?

brave slate
#

To be really honest I can't remember that exactly but I think they were mostly shiny

#

Mostly as in not mirror-like but also not matte

fading shadow
#

Okay.

#

Did you relube the y rails also?

brave slate
#

Yup, I did those too

fading shadow
#

Can you home, qgl, home z
Then check the squareness of the gantry - all sides and diagonals.
In addition move the x-axis to the front and back checking the spacing on the xy joints to the front idlers, and the motor mounts please

#

For z height it might be best to do this at say 100mm

brave slate
#

Sure, I will do that tomorrow morning as it's close to 1am for me 😅

brave slate
#

Apologies for the late message, I have now rebuilt the toolhead to make sure i didnt miss any screws and also made sure that the gantry is square following the instructions

Here are my new shaper graphs, the 125hz peak is gone but im not sure how to improve

livid breach
#

Great improvements

brave slate
#

that is nice to hear

livid breach
#

Set the fresh IS values into your config and print a new VORON cube according to the print settings in the guidelines

#

Outer wall accel 5900

brave slate
#

Thank you very much! Took the time to also shorten some wires, which i think was worth the time

#

alright, ill be back soon. Thanks for the super quick reply

livid breach
#

Welcome!

brave slate
#

Silly question, I noticed that OrcaSlicer has the v7 cube and Printables has the v8, what are the differences between the two as i cannot see any

livid breach
#

No clue hehe

#

I always grab the printables one

brave slate
#

haha, fair enough

brave slate
livid breach
#

No ringing

#

PA and EM must be tuned but thats something for #slicers_and_print_help

#

I would call this solved
Graph looks good
No ringing
