#Bed leveling probe gets snagged on build plate

I was having issues with the probe touching the build plate as it moved from probing locations during the bed leveling procedure (only on one corner). After reading that lifting the gantry in the corner its touching, I turned the printer off and lifted the corner a little. When I turned the printer back on, after homing the bed, when I go to actually bed level, the probe gets snagged on the build plate and falls off. Does anyone have any advice, im lost.

Sounds like either your z homing isnt properly calibrated, or your horizontal_move_z is set too low.

how can i adjust that?

delicate robin
#

...which?

plain olive
#

lets try z homing first

delicate robin
#

That's a little awkward if you can't completely leveling 😛

#

Can i start with the other?

#

Find the settting in your quad_gantry_level section, and increase the value by, say 10

#

ah i thought you meant that the bed leveling procedure could be adjusted

#

okay ill do that

#

do I adjust this using a command line?

#

I am new to a voron, my student project team has one and I was asked to fix it

#

if that wasnt obvious

#

When you say "when I go to bed level"...what exactly do you mean?

#

I assumed you meant qgl. But perhaps that was a bad assumption

delicate robin
#

It's a setting in the config file

#

You're using what ? Mainsail?

plain olive
#

im using mainsail yeah

delicate robin
#

So you can edit the config from the machine tab

plain olive
#

i have a lot of config files it seems

#

is this it?

delicate robin
#

That's the section, if it's indeed qgl that we are discussing

plain olive
#

is that what qgl is or is it different

delicate robin
#

So no. Height map calibration is the bed mesh. But you can't mesh a v2 without doing qgl first

plain olive
#

ah got it

#

how do i do qgl?

delicate robin
#

Press the button that says qgl on the main screen

plain olive
#

my printer has no screen 😬

delicate robin
#

In mainsail

plain olive
#

ah ok

delicate robin
#

The main control screen, not the mesh screen

#

There's a whole sequence to these things

#

You gotta home, then qgl (which trams the gantry). Then home z again

#

then you can consider running a mesh

plain olive
#

sorry for the delay

#

@delicate robin when i do qgl, it just says "Probe triggered prior to movement"

#

any ideas on how to prevent it from clipping the bed?

delicate robin
#

then we're back to needing to increase your horizontal_move_z

plain olive
#

got it

#

its currently 3

#

should i try 10?

delicate robin
#

15

plain olive
#

(i assume its mm)

#

okay

delicate robin
#

(and yes)

#

you may be able to reduce it a bit later, once you have everything working. but for now, lets just make it nice & high...

plain olive
#

got it

#

it worked!

#

thank you!
