Hi! :) This is a Stealthchanger with doom extrusions and custom paneling for integrated tophat. My priorities are to have a quiet and capable printer that looks good too.. the default tophats made the printer look large because of the visual separation between tophat and printer. so I tried to solve that issue.

For Toolhead will be made of tz v6 2.0+cht, protoxtruder 2.0, and ebb36. Originally planned Yavoth but now dragonburner for cat ears.

I'm coming from a Prusa MK4S+MMU but I wanted more things to tinker + upgrade on my printer :)

To start out, I'll be keeping the scope smaller by starting with 1 tool and no dock.

Unfortunately, 2 of my b length 2020s were bent in shipping so I've been working on gantry and tools first. magicphoenix is sending me replacement soon

#

I haven't seen other Vorons in real life, but the kit seems great quality to me, especially the heater (I paid for 800w upgrade) and the bed plate, which they make in-house

#

All of the fans are GDSTime dual ball :3 the electronics looks ok, weirdly all of the BTT boxes smell a bit like cigarette smoke but I don't expect it would be on the pcbs.

#

Welcome!

#

Enjoy the build! Stealthchanger sounds like a fun challenge.

alpine galleon
#

Looks like a nice kit!

olive stag
#

Thanks! It's been a journey going through draftshift, voron, mpx, yavoth, and various mod githubs for documentation lol

olive stag
#

Made good progress on the gantry today! I'm really liking the mpx screw organization box which is making it easy to find things.
I also assembled some parts of the toolhead. I made a longer spacer (6.5mm) to fit the tz w/ V6 nozzle in the Yavoth, but I forgot I'd need longer m2.5 screws to mount it :)

alpine galleon
#

I gotta say, the screw box is a nice touch. I have several spare 27 compartment plano boxes, but never bothered to transfer my screws from bags to box… Lots of fishing through the big ziplock for smaller ziplocks lol.

#

I printed that same nozzle torque wrench. Printed mine out of PLA, and I had to print several to get the right torque because of it lol. Love it though.

olive stag
#

I also greased all of the rails with EP1, and I'm happy with the MGN12 rail quality - it feels very smooth to me. it's a bit less preload than I expected but I'm not sure how much to expect. it just barely slides under its own weight, and stops at some points. but the ball bearing feeling is even.
As for the MGN9s, well some of them I feel a variance in the ball bearings more as I slide them, but it still slides well so I think smooth enough for Z axis. I cherry picked the 2 smoothest to become my Y's and those have even ball bearing feel and no slop at all.

olive stag
#

Well anyways, progress today :3

pulsar jungle
olive stag
#

Yay, hope you enjoy yours!

olive stag
#

I'm still waiting on those replacement extrusions, it's been slow to ship it out :/ tracking says picked up on 4/24. pretty disappointing, and no movement recently

#

in the meantime, I bought some doom extrusions since I'm tired of waiting and it'll probably be held up by customs

olive stag
#

Ok I heard back, it was late to ship because of tarrifs, no cost to me though.

olive stag
#

So thick! These are the LDO doom extrusions for 2.4.
I'm going to build the frame finally

olive stag
#

squaring up the frame rn, I'm measuring about 0.5mm variance in some directions, is that ok?

alpine galleon
# olive stag squaring up the frame rn, I'm measuring about 0.5mm variance in some directions,...

Yeah. You’re aiming for less than 1mm. 0.5<1.0, so you’re good. I forget what mine was…less than 1 for sure, but I was quickly running up against the limitations of a tape measure. Just know that you’re in the ballpark and you’re below the 1mm target. You’ll fight against your ability to take accurate measurements before you’re able to realize any gains. Call it good and move on👍

#

Oh, and I’m talking with diagonal measurements in mind.

olive stag
#

Oke thanks! I'll remeasure diagonals, cause I was doing each dimension separately

#

I made great progress today

#

Bed not on yet, just sitting

west wind
#

The doom frame looks so good

#

Dare i say bambu like

olive stag
#

Yea, I like them :)

olive stag
#

Today I finished all the belts, mounted the gantry, and put on the Cnc shuttle :)

#

Next up are the wiring, electronics, and toolhead catroombaspin

olive stag
#

I've been busy lately, so far I flashed my CB1 and did some power wiring :3 it was really cool seeing Mainsail on my browser

#

Mainsail gave me very home assistant vibes actually

opaque prairie
#

@olive stag did you see something like this pop up on your mainsail?

#

kinda weird it showed up on my browser and i dont know if its mainsail, or if its my browser but i dont know why it says anything aboujt home assistant >_>;;;

olive stag
#

oh weird o.o

#

I never saw anything like that

opaque prairie
#

im trippin out trying to figure out where it even came from lol

#

omfg

#

figured it out

#

old ass octoeverywhere install made it pop up ~_~

olive stag
#

ohh ok :3 glad its sorted

opaque prairie
#

the builds looking nice btw! @olive stag

olive stag
#

Thanks :)

olive stag
#

I flashed my M8p, CB1, and ebb36, and did a bit more wiring + mounting things. I feel like the hardest part is behind me now cat_happy cat_happy

olive stag
#

(I think) everything is wired except for the tool head :)

#

I had to grind down that back panel to make it fit inside the doom extrusions, it was maybe about 3mm too wide. But now looks great

olive stag
olive stag
#

First print :3

#

no input shaper yet, I think I printed too cold.. I thought it was PLA but it has the petg shine

olive stag
#

I'm building the doom enclosure slowly :)

#

I had to cut and tap the horizontal extrusions by hand, plus cut the panels to fit (originally from mpx panel kit), tons of manual labor lol

#

also it's dual paned :3

#

I have some cool ideas for the side panels, basically it'll be 1 solid dual-paned side panel that extends 250mm higher, and I'll print out some rounded 4040 extrusion facades to keep it looking consistent. Then, the top panel will be L shaped to finish the enclosure and attach to the 250mm raised back panel.

#

basically an integrated tophat for stealthchanger

olive stag
#

Update :D

#

Added:

  1. Custom designed side panels and tophat based on doom side panel holders. I love the panoramic look
  2. Hand cut dual pane everything (it was a lot...)
  3. Hartk's Doom door 2020
  4. MiniBFI (for sc)
  5. Voron Double Cheap doubleshear + 1.5x stock belt tensions
  6. Superpower S55 2804 ab motors
  7. Bunch of config and TMC autotune work!
#

Soon I will put in nevermore and currently am printing stealthchanger parts. Switching to Dragonburner for the 3010 fans since I find 2510 cricket sound annoying

#

Doom Stealthchanger (v2.4 magicphoenix)

#

It prints super reliably now as well. I selected the Prusa XL in prusaslicer and changed the start and end gcode to jontek's, as well as saying it runs klipper and editing the build volume. It works perfectly, and the filament profiles seems close enough too. Lmao

solemn bough
#

Looks like a touch too much squish, but great layer stacking! You can tell it's too close if it gets that wavy look

olive stag
#

ah yea, I've been getting that on several prints, I think adjusting the tap offset should do it? or some other way

#

super happy with the layer stacking

solemn bough
#

Yep, try a big rectangle like 2-3 layers thick and adjust the offset on the fly

olive stag
#

Several bed adhesion issues recently with a freshly dish soaped biqu glacier. Im losing faith in this plate a bit

#

Petg at 90c on the heater and 80-83 top of bed thermistor

#

The bottom looked perfect, no extra squish

olive stag
#

I have a west3d ultra rugged pei plate on the way cat_happy

#

And switched to all tmc2240 with 2x 5010 axial cooling on those. I love seeing the low temperatures

#

5x cat Dragonburner with angry docks coming soon^tm

#

It looks so cute lol

olive stag
#

I'm getting side tracked because of these lol. I totally didn't mean to get a box turtle but I saw a good price on the garage sale chat here, it was an ldo kit which included the filament dryer and enclosure for $360. I think I will install this temporarily to tool 1 and then migrate it to the future 250mm trident once toolchanging is working well

#

I also am finally naming the printer Mango after my sister's old black cat cat_happy

#

prusa orange color is so much better too. best orange

#

Mango

olive stag
#

I think it looks a lot better with the west3d rugged PEI plate, especially the silvery bare steel side (not pictured) cat_peek

merry halo
#

That's a chonk printer heh

olive stag
#

I've been thinking it's a bit big lately too lol

#

I love the no panel clips though

#

But I think the tophat rly tips it into too big for me

olive stag
#

1 unit is ready, with a million 3 more well on the way
Happy with the clean wiring :3

olive stag
#

also I put in the little overhanging holes trick I saw ;)

merry halo
#

It looks like it has helical teefs cat_peek

olive stag
#

Stealthprotoxtruder 2.0, it uses the HGX 2.0 gears catroombaspin

#

I like it a lot, extremely cheap and the extrusion consistency is good

#

Hard to tell how much of the z things are from lowish chamber temp so I judge by the upper layers (in pic 1)

olive stag
#

stealthprotoxtruder 2.0

olive stag
#

The units are assembled !!!!

#

they feel like dense nuggets. I love it

marble jackal
olive stag
#

It uses the HGX 2.0 gears set, which is somewhat like LGX but this is lighter and with oblique gears to grip the filament. No issue with the actual gear so far and I can't feel any backlash when I try to wiggle the outer pom gear. I really like how it's not so closed off physically and you can see it spinning. And large drive gears help a lot for extrusion consistency

marble jackal
olive stag
#

Yea, just the idler is spring loaded. I think the hgx 1.0 gears is a more similar clone of LGX and then 2.0 added some improvements

#

I think it's a sleeper budget extruder tbh. Gears only cost $10.57 each and then it's just M3 screws and printed parts

barren mesa
#

I have one also to mess around 😆

olive stag
#

$530.80 for the 5 toolheads+umbilical and Stealthchanger items only

olive stag
olive stag
#

I can't tell if it melted somehow or I didn't screw it down fully, or part was too thin

merry halo
#

I think it got hot and melted the plastic

quick mango
#

Is that a tz hot end? I had the same thing happen to me on an xol tool head

olive stag
#

It is, oh wow

#

I had the hotend fan at 30% which is the same as on Yavoth which didn't melt but that one was 2510 gdstime and this is 3010 berserker. So idk how it got so hot since the berserker is rated for a lot more cfm

merry halo
#

I think 30 is too low

#

I have a different 2510 (honeybadger) and I run it at 1.0

olive stag
#

Isnt it loud >.<

#

Sounds like crickets

olive stag
#

ok it must have melted because I tried slicing the default Dragonburner mount by chirpy and it had the same number of layers for the screw part

#

I was thinking maybe I forgot to thicken the other side when I made the tz cutout on that mount

merry halo
olive stag
#

its just the high pitched noise

#

continuous cricket drone

marble jackal
#

is this supposed to be a budget stealthchanger as a cooler alternative to indx and the U1?

olive stag
#

I'm keeping the 5th tool as a spare and then putting in my spare nextruder parts for a new 5th cat_peek but that's likely for after the 250 trident is up and running

olive stag
#

We're so back catroombaspin

olive stag
#

I installed The Filter main + right side. I didn't have the quick disconnect so just put them on wagos lol. a lot cheaper too and there's wire slack so I can pull out

#

And also put in the sexball probe for stealthchanger stuffs :3 I hope to modify The Filter left side so I can cram that in around the probe while still looking symmetrical

marble jackal
#

It looks awesome

#

I just ordered 3 hgx gear sets

#

2 for boombox and one for my ultra budget ender 5

olive stag
#

Oh nice, I didn't realize boombox used those !

olive stag
#

I put in these SVS SoundPath subwoofer feet I had laying around, I super highly recommend it! It cut down on the vibration and non-continuous noises by what feels like over half

#

All I did was slice the default feet plate stl with a negative volume in the top lip section so it was fully flat. And then used all the same screws to hold on the feet

marble jackal
olive stag
#

I think so. It's for sure much grippier than the stock V2 feet. I had to print some coasters so I can still slide my printer around lol
It's a soft rubber texture feels like silicone

olive stag
#

I put in bottom panel insulation and a 36v power supply!

olive stag
#

I just got my first toolchange!!!!!!

#

t0 -> t1 -> t2 -> t3 worked like a charm

granite arrow
#

im looking forward to seeing your machine print

#

(and then maybe il gatter the motivation to continue work on Chubechanger jakelaugh )

olive stag
#

I hit kind of a strange snag, the berserker fans are a little thicker and get overcontrained by the dragonburner cowl. so T0's hotend fan doesn't spin anymore lol

granite arrow
#

idk what Chirpy recommends for fans for dragonburner but id just stick with his recommendation 😅

olive stag
#

Im not sure either I thought the berserker was ok
but for now I remapped t1-3 onto t0-2 and gonna fix t0 later

granite arrow
olive stag
#

yea must be >.<

#

maybe I just order one and swap it

#

probably less work than remapping the config, I forgot it does the probe_calibrate value off the old t0's number too

granite arrow
olive stag
#

hehehe but what about sandpaper

#

;)

olive stag
#

I took the fan out and started sanding, but noticed it gets caught with even the smallest squeezing force

#

so I measured the fan and it was 29mmx30.4mm

#

it only got caught when I squeezed it along the 29mm dimension so I rotated the fan 90 degree and put it in, all fixed!

#

I didnt want to wait 2 days for new fans so I am pleased ^^

#

definitely getting those gdstime next time

olive stag
#

fingers crossed for first multicolor print :D

olive stag
#

omg it works

olive stag
#

First two prints (Micky 1st and candy came 2nd)

#

Also rate my filament management system

granite arrow
olive stag
#

Lol apparently I have headroom still, I'm on 36v and 180mm/s z speed

#

But I don't want to risk deracking lol. It moves so fast I don't think I can hit estop without damage first

olive stag
#

I really need to fix the issue of my umbilicals hitting each other and sometimes tangling

#

Just need to extend the spring steel to the toolhead and it should work but I only have 1 roll left which is not enough for 4 new runs.... And this supplier doesn't ship to the US anymore. Sooo I'm going to design some custom thing for my toolboard bracket to the and redo the closest tpu holder to attach there

#

As well as rear mounted filament sensor and some filament management system

merry halo
#

Order umbilicals from whiskers heh heh

#

He has fancy titanium wire too lol

steep oriole
#

I think he’s swapping back to spring steel for that nice new thin wrapping method iirc though

#

It may take a lil bit but dudes putting good effort into making some quality harnesses

olive stag
#

Scope creep detected!

#

My umbilical wire rn is just some 4 conductor cable from Amazon jakelaugh

olive stag
#

Stealthchanger is very reparable, I'm happy about that. My config was messed up and crashed into the dock... It broke a pin but the swap is super easy

#

I wish I took a pic of the twisted gantry. It was wild, 30 degree angle at least

#

But the gantry is just fine somehow

olive stag
#

And the one time my extruder broke I was able to slide it out and put in a new one with all of the electronics and motor still attached :3

marble jackal
olive stag
#

https://a.aliexpress.com/_mLYGMOz
It's a no name aliexpress motor that I got bundled with hgx 2.0 gears. Works alright but the seller wouldn't tell me the motor characteristics for TMC autotune

#

$6.88 per motor jakelaugh

olive stag
#

Btw, if anyone is considering upgrading from sexball probe to the axisoscope for sc nozzle offset calibration, I say don't bother... Sexball is super accurate and automatic, the only downside is it takes a bit more time to run through the whole routine which isn't a problem if you aren't switching hardware often

marble jackal
#

I would rather just have a set and forget option

olive stag
#

I am printing useful things now!! Player piece containers for Twilight imperium 4 catroombaspin
For printer updates, I added the nozzle wiper (only for at start of print), and a new custom ebb board mount that mounts the spring steel directly so my umbilicals behave.
I still don't have nozzle blocker or wiper on my docks but tbh, it's printing great without them? Soo I think I might just run some more prints first jakelaugh
These are all 2 color PETG prints too, worst case scenario for oozing or stringing.

#

These are 150 toolchanges per print, 3rd print with no fails cat_happy

#

I'm so happy with the sexball and nozzle wiper placement, they juust fit within my 0 to -9 Y axis so I get 0 xy loss and the full The Filter setup with this

#

oh I customized the left side of The Filter to fit around the sexball and got that usermod pushed to main in the stealthchanger github! :) (visible in pics 2 and 3)

olive stag
#

I had it running nonstop the past couple days and the toolchange wheeeee is driving me nuts lol. it was cool for the first couple hundred

#

I'm going to look into the moving dock mod

olive stag
#

well its ok at 42mm/s. but slow

olive stag
#

Added lights and 2 more chamber themistors :3

#

My front z drive is creaky... no clue

olive stag
#

Its crazy how fast toolchange prints are compared to the mmu3! Only 5 hours for that one

#

And my z speed is way low for noise too

marble jackal
olive stag
#

lmao for the low price of $300+

marble jackal
#

And enough space to fit 7 tools with a lot of extra space

#

It is 10mm off of fitting 7 in a 350 awd machine

marble jackal
#

Appri, jakob and mikeymike are helping with the project

olive stag
#

I might put a chube compact in my t0 but other than that I want to work on my trident more over time

marble jackal
#

Everyone i have shown it to wants a tz v6 version

#

They don’t understand that the slm order for 7 toolheads and the shuttle would be way too much money to be worth it

granite arrow
#

and ngl for the price its pretty decent

granite arrow
olive stag
#

Most prints are 1 maybe 2 tool so I can see a mix of hotends being a good setup

#

lile you could set a different filament profile with the volume limited and those are usually accent colors anyway

marble jackal
#

I can make non com accurate printed tz v6 tools @olive stag @granite arrow

#

As you can see the part will print

granite arrow
#

thats pretty neat!

marble jackal
#

And i printed that one with way overkill speeds so it looks like crap

granite arrow
#

also dont forget the top plate would need to be obtainable as well .. but should be just as easy to slm print it right?

marble jackal
marble jackal
granite arrow
#

ah ok .. yea would be neat if you would slm print it as well. Only having a single source for a required part would limit availability. Ordering from the us is .. expensive at the moment

marble jackal
#

It is just a plate

#

I wouldn’t use lgx lite though

#

It is ehhh for how heavy it is and how much it costs

#

I will probably be doing a sherpa one for MikeyMike as well as a sherpa/tricorn one

#

Those should all be relatively easy

granite arrow
marble jackal
#

I can always do wwg2 but that thing is heavy like an lgx lite.

olive stag
#

Is the com balance so important? Isn't it adding more weight on

granite arrow
#

its a lot easier to get rid of ghosting when com is good and your going fast

marble jackal
#

Weight still matters but it isn't as important when it comes to pushing higher speeds with a modern printer with higher tension belts and sometimes awd. The motion system is designed well enough to handle a heavy toolhead like takeoff

#

A lighter toolhead is more important on less beefy machines like Xair's microwave build with 6mm belts and a motion system that doesn't have much torque

#

Even wayne was able to hit 34k y on a 300 2wd partially due to the super light monolith toolhead

olive stag
#

I was thinking, for speed id do some easier upgrades first like 2wd printed 9mm mono and the carbonara beam

#

redoing all my tools is a ton of work

olive stag
#

durability update: small issue with the magnets coming loose from the docks and the dragonburner, I think I need to dunk it in superglue. otherwise so far so good
