Hello!

This will be the build log for my new Voron Trident. I have to admit that I might be a few evenings in already, but I'm finally getting around to posting the build log now!

Here are the mods I currently have planned:

  • Inverted electronics, for easy access to said electronics
  • Smooth BFI
  • Clicky Clacky door
  • Tap
  • A4T using the WWBMG extruder
I'm quite curious about the WWBMG, I didn't have a great experience with the plastic extruder on the V0 (mini SB) and later swapped it out for a CNC'd Sherpa mini (I'm not saying printed extruders are bad ofc, that's just my personal experience 🙂).
I also plan on getting a Raspberry Pi CM4 or similar instead of using the included CB1, I've heard from a bunch of people that the CB1 sucks lol.

The parts were printed on my V0 using Sunlu black ABS and Azurefilm blue ASA.
Here are the pictures from the past 3 evenings!

The lighting isn't doing my printed parts any favour, lol

I just realised the frame isn't square, I'll have to fix that first

Blue ASA looks good! Never seen those smooth BFI, Voron logo on front looks better than screw caps

Radiobo designed them if I recall. Also is it the regular sunlu ABS or their easy ABS?

Life took over for a bit, but I'm back to working on the Trident. I have installed the Y and Z rails, the legs and the X axis.
However, despite my best efforts I still haven't been able to get the frame squared. I got the fysetc corner tool and built the frame on the flat kitchen countertop, lifted it once and immediately it's wobbly again. The frame has definitely been the most frustrating part of the build so far, I didn't really keep track but it's definitely around 5 hours on a frame that still wobbles cat_sad I'm really enjoying the rest of the build though. Do I keep going or strip it down again and start over on the frame?

mind you you can only really use them on the top. you can usually square the gantry agianst the feet on the bottom

Those might be worth a try if I can get them around here. I'll try squaring against the feet first, that sounds like it should work. Thanks for the tip!
