The end of the screw should be flush with the top when the adjuster is fully compressed. The nut is rather deep in the hole.
Then it's probably fine.
@hasty pulsar nice accent color choice! mine looks exactly the same. Do your actual idler pulleys just thread into the plastic? The instructions don't include a nut for the M5 bolt that's holding the idler gear in place and I thought that was weird...
Noo they're loose and it's been bothering me. Is the screw long enough? I'll check once I'm back home.

So the screw isn't long enough to put a nut on the end of it.
Once the belts are tensioned I think it should create enough compression between the screw and the accented part to keep it in place
Fair enough. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Seems odd...
