I have always been fascinated by the work of Reinhard Kleist and his music portraits. It is a style i have always wished to imitate, but never have gotten quite there. I will begin with my favorite works by Reinhard Kleist, and then send my own, in hopes to receive a little advice

Now, here is some of my work (that im proud of, at least.) I have attempted many times to imitate his style but never got quite there.

I'd say to reference comic books as thats what the style reminds me of.

I personally wouldn't use brush pens, reference older comics with similar styles, and try to mimic the proportions as best as you can, if you can't get there that's okay, its good to have your own unique style.

It looks pretty close to me tbh

#

Also if you can look at his methods

He probably does since that's kind of what it looks like, I just personally don't use brush pens

#

I'd just find what works for you

#

And roll with it, you don't have to use the exact same things as he did

Ah, look at other comic artists methods then if you can, there's a bunch that look kind of similar to his style and you can learn what works best for you to mimic his style, I would just try to mimic his lineart and proportions. I do tend to trace sometimes as it makes it easier to learn the style that I want and you can come up with your own methods to work with that style. I don't post the traced artwork tho and usually just have it as practice to learn something new.
