I keep getting bad grades for my still life studies but the teacher doesn't correct me much while I'm drawing in class any constructive criticism?
For reference my classmate got a good grade on the image with whiter light but I feel like mine is structurally better? Why is mine worse grade?

Perspective and small details, your classmate's drawing has slight shading and texture added to it, and also having a small hint of a background, the drawing is bigger too which allows for more space for that detail to fit in, small drawings can get a bit cluttered if you detail them too much.
Both are great, you did a good job on yours as well, but especially for art teachers? They can be a bit nitpicky about the small stuff.
