i would like for it to fit with her current colour palette (red as the main colour) but everything i try looks so OFF idk!!!

Hey, that red looks nice already! Tho take note I am not an artist myself, and I am only saying from my experience. You can consider this as an opinion.

Anyways, I'll start with the red. If you want a good colour scheme, you should use the color wheel and study it. Tho, you can't just use the colour wheel just yet, we need a formula to actually pick us a nice color.

You can use this diagram for example.

What I would do here, with the red you gave, I'll use the triangle. Meaning that would give me:

Red
Yellow
Blue

But usually, I just pick 2 from the triangle.

Like here, I chose yellow and red only
