Background color(s)

I need help choosing the background for this drawing, none of the colors i tried seemed to fit. It just doesn't seem right
(There are other colors, that i tried, but that would be too much photos)

have you tried to use a more desaturated color? Like a tinted gray/ a cyanish gray?

any part of an art piece that you do not want people to focus on should have a value darker then the focus
that and you should try have things further away be less and less saturated

[generally though these rules can be broken with intention/reason!]

hence why it feels weird!
