#How do I make my background more realistic?

The perspective is a little off. Putting more research into that will immediately help with the depth of field.
You should want everything going towards a vanishing point. In this case the road is the vanishing point
A good point to keep that in mind on this would be the middle
What you have now would be fine with correct shading but what might be off putting is the terrains spreading out still even as you go further
When your brain probably thinks mmmmmm. It’s suppose to start being pulled in
The path also need to be drawn like its affected by the hills, when they go down, the path will go down, and there an invisible path it takes the little bit down we can’t see before it continues up
First instinct, at least for me is to want to but the darkest colors in the back. But you want the darkest and most vibrant colors in the front and lower of in hue and saturation as you get further- aka things should get lighter
Doing more detail in the from and the less as you do back will also help. You vision gets blurrier farther away
