i suggest doing a gradiant and then blending it

like use the purple for the hair and make it lighter and lighter and then blend it

i also suggest doing studies on how light interacts with hair to know why the highlights and also the shadows form the way they do. understanding the real life thing is very benificial to drawing hair.
