i just think the colors are flat, but i assume you'll add more later on since you said it's unfinished?
Yeah, mostly the color upfront needs depth
Any tips on adding depth?
nah sorry, im not a painter, maybe add shadows though
How do you normally add depth is a better question
perspective, shadows, and lighting
Update? Needs more shadow I know
it's definitely flat in terms of texture and color, if you want more color depth I would try using multiple colors instead of just one and blending them together. Also using partially translucent brushes is really good for this too as you can add color on top without removing what you have already entirely, creating better gradients. also the airbrush is good
Oh right, I made a few changes, but I assume the colors need some more work?
also I love food forests and I think they're good artistic inspiration
I think if you added more plants and layered them vertically it would look nice
Good idea, once I'm done with the character I'm adding I should do that
Also I realized you have some nice texture here in the trees and grass, but in my discord app I couldn't really see it because the details were too fine
I would probably add some more complexity to the textures, as well as add more detail at different scales
the main place I would add some more color variation would be the river I think
Yeah, kinda focused too much on the other aspects ig lol
I'm trying to edit your painting right now
idk why i'm having such a hard time
maybe it's easier to give criticism than implement it lol
what do you think of this? I noticed your water didn't have much in terms of value variation
Yeah, I think something like that would work, maybe remove the water flow I did and add that after or not at all
I kept your water flow here, the only thing I would saw is that the flow is a little bit too straight
it seems fast moving so it will be more straight but not like perfectly
because water is chaotic and the river isn't straight either
Got it, thank you for your insights and suggestions
