any critique on my backgrounds and character composition ? specifically my color picking too

Omg hellllooo.

Ok let me just toggle this.

First off: contrast test. It does not pass the contrast test.

Notice how the girl on the left completely fades into the background of this.

Secondly: lighting. Lighting on the characters are rather solid giving the look of the characters being more rectangular than they are.

Ok im going to start with a few quick fixes first off.. lets juuuust add a multiply at 77% with a warm cool tone to really make those characters POP

I see. I played around with colour balance a bit and got this effect, and im going to say its cus ur art is all in midtones with no clear highlights or really dark. next ill add the highlight.

this was not a super refined piece either so that's why there's not a lot of diff shadows n whatnot but i'll be sure to apply it to my other stuff

ok final touches, i added light source using yellow set on overlay for the main lights and then a slightly less solid blue light for the tv since it would make no sense for it not to be glowing

it could also proive useful backlight for the characters

Correction the tv and exit light are on soft light mode.

No worries! I love colours i eat that shit up

your stuff looks like one of those tv shows. like

archer.. comes to mind

but also a lot of indie cartoons
