Need help with characters

Every time I make a new character, I end up really loving them and drawing them for like, up to a month, then just loose passion in drawing them? Is there a way to make a character that would keep me loving to draw them without causing major changes to them? One that I can commission art of, and will still have that art be relevant because I still love the character. need help!
